    Two questions.

Would you give up Brooks and Landry to get Artest?

If we offered that to Sac, do you think they would go for it? (Seems better then Stackhouse and Bass)

It would basically be a S&T with Landry. Another expiring would have to be added to make salaries work (Francis, Head or Novak).

Since we can't sign and trade Landry I would say no.

on the contrary, I would not trade one single person for artest. he is a friggen locker room cancer, and for a team that lives on chemistry he could seriously be as lethal as a TO or Marbury.

I've seriously contemplated making a thread just about this singular fact. It's been said a hundred times and people still can't grasp it.

This is tempting, as Brooks and Landry are fringe players, but I still say no...but just barely.

It doesn't work for our overall team roster as you would have Tmac, Battier, Artest, Barry, and Greene at the wings....and now our PF and PG situations are weaker....especially the PF spot.

Artest has one year left, I would not do this deal for a flake like Artest.

And for the haters...I wouldn't do it for Marbury either........ :D

I think Ron Ron has a scorched earth policy for any team that is willing to take him on......and the Rockets are close enough already.

That being said, if you can do it for expirings like Bjax and insert any non rotation player here...you do it.

They rely on chemistry to survive because they have a talent deficit. That's the whole point of trading for Artest...

You should learn more about basketball rule before you post this trade thread.. WE cannot do S&T (sign and trade) with Landry...... period..

so your sacrificing one for the other.......Artest' off court problems and personal issues(immaturity, being the biggest) far outwiegh his talents.

you do remember just a few seasons ago he actually went into the stands of a road game and commenced to beating a fans ass. You want this douchebag on your team? I want a chip as much as the next guy, but if I have to worry about this kind of behavior interrupting the teams goal........piss off, no thanks. He could be more harm than good, thats not a chance I want to take.

Who the heck is our core 5?

...as Hayesfan said i don't think we can S&T Landry but i would trade pretty much anything else other than Yao and Tracy for a player of Artest's caliber.

I disagree with this post, I think hustle is part of talent....that is how Rodman was an elite rebounder, Moses Malone too.

But yes, I'd give up Brooks + Landry for Artest if it were possible...

If it were possible, yes, yes, and hell yes!

Maybe the Rockets could offer Battier, Brooks, expiring contracts, and a draft pick instead. I'm assuming Ron Ron would take Battier's place.

... in a heartbeat. I guess it would depend on how much you signed Landry for, to determine what other contracts you had to throw in there.

Of course, if we could get him with BJax, Head and Brooks, I'd do that first.

And, I'd prefer not to give up Battier to SAC in the deal, either.

If we needed to trade Battier, I'd rather that be for a PG, then ship Alston to either NJ or NY, where he's a hometown hero, and is good marketing. We might even be able to get David Lee from NY.

So, let's see, what if we did a 4 TEAM TRADE with SAC/CHI/NYC/HOU:

HOU sends BJ/Brooks to SAC, Battier/Head/Novak to CHI, and Alston/#! to NYC
SAC sends Artest to HOU, Thomas to NYC
NYC sends Randalph to SAC, Lee to HOU
    CHI sends Hinrich/Sefolosha to HOU

    So ...

    HOU trades Battier/Alston/Brooks/Jackson/Head/Novak/#1 for Artest/Hinrich/Lee/Sefolosha
    SAC trades Artest/Thomas for Randalph/Brooks
    NYC trades Randalph/Lee for Alston/BJ/Thomas/#1
    CHI trades Hinrich/Thelofasha for Battier/Head/Novak

    That would give us:

    Yao/Deke/Dorsey
    Scola/Lee/Hayes
    Artest/Greene/Landry
    TMac/Harris
    Hinrich/Barry/Francis

... and we'd have room to sign another guard, or trade a PF for a C, if Deke doesn't sign.

That team would give us more toughness, athleticism, defense, and multiple scorers.

... big trades like this don't happen ... but, if SAC was interested in Randalph, it would be a good trade for all involved, even NYC. Even though NY is taking on KT's Salary, its still nearly half of Randolph's, with salary relief and a home-town hero and #1 pick. This deal could still be done with Jerome James, instead of Randalph, with a few other fillers. Worked in RealGM.

Hypothetically, yes, in a heartbeat. Although this is impossible to do until midseason because of Landry's situation. This will not happen though and does not deserve its own thread.

I do not want Landry in any trade, not even for Ron Artest.
