Assuming of course, that Chicago would be interested. It's my understanding that Chicago is working on a S&T, with Crawford going to the Knicks. In the article, it mentioned that Chicago was looking for expiring & short term contracts. The TE is, in essence, an expired contract. All they have to do is renounce it (in other words, say they don't want it anymore), & the salary drops off the cap immediately. Chicago has been trying to move Robinson for some time, & more recently, have been trying to trade Jerome Williams. Robinson's contract runs for 2 more years & Williams's contract runs for 3 more years, with a team option in the 4th year. Here's the trade idea: Houston sends TE to Chicago. Chicago sends Williams or Robinson/the rights to Ben Gordan or Luol Deng to Houston. With Hinrich developing & Duhon/Pargo showing promise, the Bulls are loaded at PG & might be willing to listen, if we'd take one of their 2 bad contracts. Is Gordan worth making a run at? Would we have to throw in a future #1 pick? Would you do the deal?
Are you kidding. Why would Chicago trade one of the guys they just drafted this year. Seriously, who has ever heard of a team that drafts a player, signs him to a contract, then moves him before the season even starts. I know that West traded Gooden during his rookie year, but that was in the middle of the season when he found out that it wasn't going to work out. And how did you jump from the bulls trading crawford for expiring contracts, to them trading their rookies. Wouldn't the logical presumption be that we could trade our TE for Crawford, or get into a 3-way deal. How did Ben Gordon figure into this?
I would offer part of the TE and next yrs 2nd round pick for Duhon, or pike for duhon if the Bulls would listen. Hes better than snow and charlie ward.
I know Crawford jacks the shots, but I'd still like to see the Rox try and get him. If he doesn't work out, he certainly wouldn't be the first player we traded away, and he would have value.
Can we bring in Toni Kukoc for cheap? at 36 he might be winding down, but he can bring championship experience (might be overrated) to the table and he can also be a mentor of sorts for his EUro buddy Boki. He'll be a good influence in the locker room as a wise veteran and all the stories he tells about the 95-98 bulls championship run shoudl motivate the Rox to greater heights. Oh yea, he's a good shooter and passer too so he can play some spot minutes sharing with JJ & Boki. D is suspect though, so JVG probably won't want him in the rotation.
I would kill to have Gordon as the PG alongside T-Mac. He's such a fierce competitor, such a hard worker. He is in the Joe Dumars mold.
Since the trade of Crawford is likely, that leaves Hinrich versus Gordon, i.e. brains and height versus athleticism and heart. IMO, Scott Skiles must keep both until he sees who is the clear winner. Duhon is not a factor since his second round contract is so cheap that there is no reason for Chicago not to keep him around. The hitch in the getalong for the Knicks' acquisition of Crawford: Does Chicago want to see Crawford play for their arch-rival?
Thinking on it further, how would Crawford fit in with the retooled Rockets? Could we trade Mo Taylor and the T-E for Crawford and a bad contract? Crawford would give us size and shooting and so-so defense, but is he more of a SG than a PG? Would he be willing to be the third option?
He's the kidn of guy that can't get going unless he's taking shots. Lots of them. He's a godo player, and I really like his game, but not alongside T-Mac, and not on a team that is tryign to get mroe shots for the big man.
How about Brandon Haywood? Wasn't he drafted by Cleveland before being traded to the Washington Wizards before he ever signed his first contract?
Did you even read the post? How about, so they can dump a bad contract? Try rereading it again. First off, Gordon hasn't been signed yet. Thus, we'd be trading for his rights. As for your question, maybe you've heard of some of these guys: Kobe (traded from Charlotte to L.A. for Vlade Divac) Ray Allen/#1 pick (traded from Minnesota to Milwaukee for Marbury) Tyson Chandler (traded with Brian Skinner from the Clippers to Chicago for Brand) Vince Carter (traded with cash from Golden State to Toronto for Antawn Jamison) Richard Jefferson (traded with Jason Collins & Brandon Armstrong from New Jersey to Houston for Eddie Griffin) Antonio McDyess (traded with Randy Woods from the Clippers to Denver for Rodney Rodgers & Brent Barry) Dirk Nowitzki (traded with Pat Garrity from Milwaukee to Dallas for Robert Traylor) This has to be one of the most lopsided trades in NBA history. There are others, but I'm sure you get the point by now. Uhhh......., the original intent of this thread was to see if Chicago would give us the rights to Gordon in exchange for us taking a bad contract off their hands. They could then renounce the trade exception, or keep it for one year for a future trade. I'm sorry if I caused you any confusion, but I thought that the proposal was pretty clear.
HT, you know I would love to have Hinrich or Gordon (in that order). I was just trying to get into Chicago's shoes to foresee hitches in your proposal and/or explore how Crawford would work. But, clearly, I would be jumping up and down for joy if the Rockets pulled off your suggestion. BTW, I suspect Chicago would part with Gordon before Deng because they really need a quality SF.
Well, its looking probable that Crawford will go to NY, and send Williams and Robinson with him, while recieving Mutombo, Shandon Anderson and Othella Harrington. What bad contracts were you interested in? I'd love to get some of CHI spare parts, and would be willing to use the TE, and anyone but TMac, Yao and JJ to get them ... especially Chandler, Curry, Hinrich or Duhon.
