So my coworker is Chinese and visits all of the chinese websites. I know they are not the most reliable, but he heard a rumor of Tracy McGrady and Aaron Brooks for Ray Allen and Rajon Rondo. This rumor, according to the article, picked up steam after Rondo decided not to sign an extenstion with Boston. So, would you guys do this trade? Man, I would hate to lose Brooks!

Have to realize that Rondo is a more complete player, and has a lot more experience than Brooks, plus Allen is also an expiring contract and can contribute now.

Rondo would have to show that he was valuable even without the stars he had around in Boston, add this that he is in a new team and his market value will be lower as i expect him to play worse for his first year here.

We should lock him very cheap.

    Allen will go of course.

Exactly.. lock this up. That thread should have been locked too - everyone got bogged down debating the trade that no one thought to actually confirm it was a legitimate rumor, which I'm guessing it wasn't.

    Yes!

Rondo- proven PG + good defense + good speed + healthy

Allen- proven scorer + good defense + plays within this system + healthy

Brooks- up and comer PG + lacks size + good speed + healthy

Tracy- on decline + needs the ball to be effective + coming back from surgery

I'll donate $100 to tip jar if Morey can get it done.

except for the fact it's a salary dump for us because both Rondo and Allen are in the last year of their contracts...

we'd essentially be giving then Brooks for cap space.

    bad trade.

We need capspace ...unless you want to stick with the tested and proven to fail T-mac and Yao system (now with more injuries and older!)

I would do this trade in a heartbreat, and there's always the possibility Rondo could re-sign with us... Losing Brooks wouldn't be that bad.

This trade is too good to be true though, so it's most likely bogus.

I wouldn't do the trade without Rondo first signing an extension at a less-than-max amount. There's no guarantee Rondo will re-sign with us if he comes over without the extension signed. I'm not looking for a one-year rental of Rondo, but a long-term version would be nice.

I remember i made a joke reply of a recap of Yao on the radio. Made up a whole bunch of silly stuff like Francis gained 300 pounds and who would Yao marry, kill and have sex with. Well, a day later it showed up on a Chinese website like it really happened. I never been so proud.

would you be willing to pay Rondo $55-65 million for 5 years? Because that's what he wants and he just turned down $45 million from the Celts.

That will eat up most of you cap right there.

    Bad trade.

I think Rondo would be a restricted free agent when his contract expires.

This wouldn't happen. The celtics is still contending this season. Actually, the celtics are really really good right now. They wouldn't trade their key players.

They unload a larger ammount of salary by season's end, and get rights on Brooks who they must view as a possible replacement for Rondo at a cheaper price.

Then they can trade away T-Mac for a good sg, and more expirings.
