Let's face it, after you calm down and take a deep breath, you will realize TMac and Yao is here to stay.

On the other hand, with the cap space limitation, Rockets can not improve without a trade... only player on the Rockets roster that can attract some attention is Luther Head. He is a great 3-pt shooter that many teams would love to add. I would say any signifant trade package that can improve Rockets may need to involve Head...

Having said that, he is the only spark plug (in the regular season) off the bench.

So my question is -- will you trade Luther to strength the PF/PG position?

You trade him assuming we are signing a solid starter/backup PG in his place. Many scenerio's I have where Francis comes to us for the MLE also have Head being involved in a S&T for some random guy.

I was willing to let him go last summer if it made us better.

a short matt bullard with no ball handling skills and a low bball IQ. nah he's untouchable. ;)

seriously, he's a great shooter and i think he's more valuable now then last summer, but he's a mediocre asset at best.

Personally, I'd like to experiment with Head a bit more.

You are right that he is not a great asset. But he may be the only one can attract some attention not from money but from basketball. In that I mean some team may feel desparate need of a 3 pt shooter... (Sorry I just posted a hypothetical question without any particular trade in mind.)

Absolutely. I mentioned this in a different thread but what do you think a package of Head/#1 could get us? I'm thinking more along the lines of trading that package outright for an already established player but I would consider using it to move up in the draft if somebody you can't pass on comes along.

other than Yao, Tmac and Shane, everyone else is tradable...

But Head is still under his rookie contract, it is hard to get his true value in return.

and whoever we trade him for, he'd better be a darn good 3pt shooter, that was what caused us in the Utah series.

Luther Head fell to pieces in the playoffs. Maybe he needed that trial by fire. Certainly he's a good rotation player.

Package him in a deal and good-bye, Luther.

Yes in a heartbeat. Head said during the year, don't call him JUST a 3 point shooter. Too bad that's exactly what he is and when he's not hitting the 3, he's useless.

But maybe we can package him with Sura or Howard to make salary match.

Will New York bite on Head+JHo for David Lee + Reggie Evans? We give them a good shooter for a bad contract and they too many body at PF position...

You have to be willing to let head go. He is the only player on the team not named Yao Tmac or Battier that anyone would want. 3 point shooting is a needed commodity on most team and if you can find a team like detroit that are big man heavy you might be able to squeeze one of there guys away if you offer Head as part of the deal.

I would trade him, yes, if we get a good PG or PF somehow in a deal in return.
