....play some slow paced, low scoring and defensive minded basketball? Just like the knicks basketball under JVG. The UGLY nba finals has made me sick.

Would the happiness of winning games outweigh the unhappiness of watching boring basketball?

i rather watch ugly winning basketball than highlight reels of steve's dunks.

I'd rather not have to cringe every time mooch was put in a game just to dribble out the shot clock

I'd rather not have to watch steve penetrate into the middle with Yao standing there and turn the ball over

YES,,,,,I want them to win and make the playoffs.

Certainly we all would love to be the Showtime Lakers and run up and down the court with great fast breaks and win championships. And no no one wants to watch ugly basketball games.

But winning cures everything. If this team is winning then I don't think anyone will complain that they are doing it "ugly."

I just don't see how the Rockets are going to be that "ugly" with a team full of finesse players.

hey if the rockets win 55 games i don't care about the style because whatever it is, it works. I don't expect a slow half court offense though, i think people will be surprised.

We can do that, or we can play the run and gun fast past, uptempo basketball that Van Gundy is also known for when he took the Knicks to the Conference finals back-to-back years and to the NBA Finals one of those years. People seem to conveniently forget that when they're bashing Van Gundy.

I rather the Rockets win ugly than loose spectacularly.

It's all relative. For example, last year the Rockets already did play slow-paced, low scoring games. Now, if you tell me the onyl thing Van Gundy changes is making them play consitently good denfese to take them to the playoffs and beyond, well you're damn staright I'd be happy. The team would have gone from boring to watch and bad to boring to watch and good.

i'd be happy, but i'd be disappointed at the same time. however, i dont think that steve francis can play boring ball. it would take jvg completely leaving steve out of the o to do that. so i'm not worried.

it's not a given that JVG will implement a slow-down offense. true, that with the Knicks, they slowed the game down, but that was done because the talent wasn't there to win with scoring.

i'm pretty certain that with the talent on this team, JVG would put in a balanced attack offense, that would take advantage of the fast-paced game of the guards as well as the low-post option of Yao. if i remember correctly, JVG's comment was to try and score at least 100 and hold the opposition to 80.

i see JVG stressing defense first, and then retooling the offense to flow through Yao, but not taking away Francis's effectiveness on the perimeter.
