Is it that LA played better than they should or SA did not play as good as they can? If I originally thought that the Spurs were going to take a back step, last night game did nothing to change that. So, would they have beaten a healthy rockets team last night seeing that they did struggle against LA without Shaq and Fox? Spurs: under 40% shooting, no blocks, 14 assists. If that was the Rockets, this board have been going crazy.

Boy that five game cushion looking real sweet.

    :D  :)

    Roll those eyes.........

    :p :p :p

SA played up to their capability. A healthy Rockets team would have won. Duncan + fodder is all they have. The Spurs suck...

The Spurs sucked last nite, but they don't suck. Tim Duncan and Parker had an off night. They should have spanked the Lakers. I think both teams shot like in the 30's. The Rockets could have beaten both teams last nite.

Shoulda, coulda, woulda... they didn't and they suck. Duncan can't carry this team to #4 or better in the West. Maybe Ferry can...

Did they have an off night or was the defense on those guys stellar? Clearly it was LA's goal to stop those two and SA knew that, so where were those who were supposed to step up? Robo should have had 18 pts at least. I know it is just one game but you know me, I like to see things before they are vividly obvious.

It's clear that you slow Duncan as much as you can, limit Parker and then just D up on the rest. They're toast. A multi talented team like any of the top 10 in the league will give them fits. They suck. The Rockets would have crushed them...

Well, you guys know Duncan is not going to have 82 games like that one.

In all seriousness, that was a hard game to watch there in the first quarter. Ugly ugly basketball. I wonder if they will start calling Samake the "Duncan Stopper". lol

Robinson didnt look bad for an old man about to retire. Genobili had a few nice plays. They just couldnt buy a bucket. Tony Parker had so many missed layups he was reminding me of Kenny Smith.

The Lakers were alot better defesively than I rememberd them being. It looked like they were pumped and really contested alot of shots in the paint. Derek Fisher was terrible. Hes nothing without Shaq.

Does it look like Kobe has lost a step with all his muscle. He seems like he just can't elevate or change directions like he used to. He was having a hard time getting by Gino for god sake.

Their top starters were 15 - 56!

The New Mexico school for pregnant nuns could have beat them... :D

And Kobe's shooting has been really bad.

Codell, Duncan will have a few more, not 82, but a few more.

He did last year, and the year before that.

Last night was a bad game. I know how absolutely stunning it is to most people that a couple of times over an 82 game season you might be flat, but this was it. The Spurs missed over 10 layups, Duncan got in foul trouble on three garbage first half calls (not a one was legit)

Basically, if the following occurs, we will crush the Spurs:

-- the league MVP shoots 3-14, gets in first half foul trouble on bull**** calls
-- the Spurs miss over 10 shots within 2 feet of the basket
-- the Spurs shoot under 37 percent from the field
-- Tony Parker shoots 0-10 from the field, including several open jumpers
-- the best three point shooting team in the league shoots 30%
-- the Spurs shoot under 70 percent from the line

Maybe I'm pessimistic, but I can't see that continuing for 82 games. Who cares what they should've won by? Wins are wins, whether they are by 1 or 40. They struggled for a lot of the game, but when they had to make plays in the fourth quarter, they made them.

If Houston's going to bump anyone from the top 4, it's going to be the no-defense Mavs, not the Spurs.

Hopefully we won't look that pathetic...

Those are two of the best teams in the league? It shows who the real MVP of the Lakers is...

For what I am looking for, the exception is good enough for me. The rule would be too much, overkill! :p

Im more concerned about Parker's play last night. If he has games like that more often than not this year, then thats not going to help. Smith looked ok and Robinson might have a better season than many think.

The Rockets just need to get healthy. Im concerned with this pattern of injuries we keep having. If Yao, Mobley or Francis is out for an extended period, then its over for us.

DearRock, don't know where your info came from, but "no blocks" is wrong. Duncan blocked Kobe at least twice, maybe more.

Lakers did nothing to limit Parker. He was wide open for most of his shots. He just couldn't hit anything.

Rose was key. Bowen played good D on Kobe, but he had plenty of help. Kobe repeatedly went to the middle with his back to the basket, did that spin move and just launched himself into double or triple teams, expecting a call every time. They gave it to him most of the time, but not all the time. It's a cheap move that the refs should not give him.

Ginobili and Speedy Claxton were very big with their defense and steals.

Steve Smith looks like he is in slow motion. He can still shoot, but looked like Walt on defense and worse on the boards.

Oh, yeah. I hate the Lakers.

Beat somebody before you start slamming other teams. By the way you Rocket fans talk you would think you are title contenders instead of the lottery fodder you are....

Oh and any smart comments you might have about my Grizzlies will be answered after we spank the Allas( no D in that city) and Irk tonight.
