Would Houston be interested in sending Glen Rice and Cuttino Mobley to Chicago for Jalen Rose (and cap filler - Hassell or Baxtor)? It's a good money saving deal for Chicago and they get a 2nd level star in Mobley for Rose. Houston would be taking on Rose's $60 mil salary. What do you think? How important is it to use Rice and/or Mobley in deals to dump bad salaries (Mo Taylor, Kelvin Cato, etc)?
I would be very tempted to do that deal. I think a Jalen-Francis backcourt would be very good with Jalen as the point. It would also give us some lacking defense and good size at the 1, 2, 3 positions to go along with Big Boy in the middle. I don't know how interested Chicago would be in something like that though.
Some of the BBSers that are concerned about Mobley taking too many shots (and taking away Yao shots), just wait till Rose comes onboard. Hasn't he led the league in shot attempts per 48 mins a few times?
Why would you want to trade for a player who shoots even more than Cat. A player who doesn't share the ball any better than Cat at all, and is a much poorer defender. Rose is a worse ballhogger and a worse defender. And Baxter or Hassel won't do much for us. So NO thanks to this trade.
I vote no. Jalen, although very talented needs touches to be effective. Not the right guy to build a "team" with.
The Rockets do not need another scorer. Steve Francis and Yao Ming are our 2 big scorers. We need role players who can play hard nosed defense, hit 3 pointers, and are able to feed Yao the ball in the post effectively. Jalen Rose is a scorer who brings nothing but problems to a team like the rockets.
Mobley did the Rockets a huge favor with his contract. He could easily be making a lot more money elsewhere. He had some loyalty to Rudy and the Rockets, maybe you guys should show him a little. He has changed his role repeatedly, trying to fit in with the team. Maybe a new coach and a new offense will open some eyes.. he only took 15 shots per game, down five from the year before...
Jalen is a more talented player than Mobley. He does need his touches but is taller and has shown he can defend when he was pushed by Bird. He can also play at SF and SG. Hassel is a good defender and is a pretty good backup SG. We wouldn't miss Glen Rice at all. I do however agree that our main problem is at the 1 and unless Francis can share the ball with Yao and the rest of the players we aren't going anywhere.
Mobley is better than Rose. As a shooting guard. WHAT THEN!??!? THREE FREAKIN WOLVERINES?!?/ The FAB THREE. Mo...Glen...Jalen....Rudy is gone. I'd keep us.
Both Cat and Rice are good for the Rockets salary wise (Rice with only one year contract remaining), so why would Rocks trade for Rose, who is known as the black hole in Chicago? We need to give Francis, and especially Yao more shot attempts, we don't need someone like Rose with a huge contract to join the likes of Taylor, Cato and Moochie (note, all bench players) in keeping us forever away from the free agent market. -G'day-
its incredible how much some people contribute with putdowns being the meat of their post. great contribution. give respect to get it A) rose is older than mobley B) hes not quite the character guy that the rockets would want. i still remember my initial reason for not liking him being when he broke mario elie's wrist on a breakaway dunk like 7 years ago when rose played for denver C) if they move mobley, id guess itd be in a package deal for a pick or a player wed be surprised to get. rose is eh
