As we know, a number of people have been complaining about Gay for Battier for years now.

So, if Gay is the superior player, and having the inferior Battier got us to 3-3 in the series, doesn't that mean if we had Gay, we would have been better than 3-3, that is, already moved on to the WC finals, given the same roster and same injuries?

Do you think Rudy Gay would have dominated the series so much as to win us the series?

Would Rudy Gay's length have bothered Kobe Bryant?

Would Rudy Gay's supperior scoring average have won the Rockets games 2, 3 or 5?

Would Rudy Gay have bled for the team in Game 1?

Would Rudy Gay have inspired a text message from the White House?

NO.. Rudy Gay would be smoking weed in the trainer's room instead of watching tape like Battier.

Kobe would eat Gay up for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

I know you hate Gay and I don't care very much about him, but I still feel that we didn't get enough for the 8th pick. The answer is no one knows what would or would not have happened.

What if the Rockets had Carl Herrera instead of Shane Battier?

    Worst thread ever???

We would have lost in 5 if Battier wasn't here to force Kobe into contested jump shots all game long. If we didn't have him Kobe would either blow past Artest like he has this series or exploit Gay's fundamentally bad defense. Either way he would be getting into the lane drawing fouls left and right.

I'll interpret the question as if we replaced Battier with Gay to start the series, what would the result have been. First of all, I would guess that Ron Artest is given the Kobe assignment instead. Artest hasn't guarded Kobe a whole lot this series, but from what I've seen I don't think he'd have done as good a job as Battier has. And Gay would probably have to matchup with Odom or Ariza, and I don't think he'd have done as good a job on those guys as Artest has done on them. So, defensively, things would be much different. I think the Lakers would have their way with us.

On the offensive side, with Aaron or Kyle pushing the ball more in transition, Rudy Gay would be a nice athlete to have running and finishing on the break. He'd be another go to option for us in the mid-post. I think he'd bring some good things to the table on that end, definitely. Just look at all the high scoring games Kyle and Rudy had when they were together in Memphis. That could be us!

If we convinced Memphis to give us that Lowry kid, I have an idea what might have happened.

We would have had two Lowrys. One from the Battier trade, and the other one from the Alston trade.

That would be some serious PG depth.

I like Kyle,he has done a pretty good job. We needed a backup PG when CD gave up the 8th pick. Getting Battier for the 8th pick wasn't enough IMO, because Memphis really wanted Gay.

I'm surprised to hear that since you felt that we got more than enough for the 8th pick.

Stop this bullshyt. Gay would not have EVEN half the heart of Battier. Athletic talents don't mean shyt if you don't have the brain, the heart, the defense, the desire...there is so many elements that goes into a player that people tend to ignore and only look at the athletic side.

So stop this bullshyt and lock this thread. It is pointless!

There should be a poll that asks when was the last time Carl Herrera started a decent thread on Clutchfans.

Kobe would be averaging 50 PPG, if you'd rather have Gay over Battier. If you said Gay instead of Artest, it would be a pretty decent argument and thread. Too bad, Battier has been where amazing happens in the playoffs so far on both ends.
