I mean today/next season. ESPN's got an article talking about it: http://espn.go.com/nba/columns/hughes/1171450.html C: Robinson, Ewing PF: Malone, Barkley, L8tner SF: Quitten, Mullin, Bird SG: Jordan, Drexler PG: Stockton, Magic All guys on the downside of their careers, but most still have some game left. I'm not sure Bird or Magic still have anything left in the tank. Drexler and Barkley would have trouble getting back in basketball shape (not to mention the fact that they hate each other). Jordan, Malone, Stockton all pushing forty. Might be time to stick a fork in Mullin and Ewing. Still, I'd bet the old guys could win 55 to 60 games and make it to the NBA Finals out of the East, especially if Trailblazer syndrome didn't hit them first. ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
I think they would still be a nice team. THere are a lot of guys on the team who would know their roles and would do anything for a ring (CB4, Karl, Flopton, Ewing, & Mullin) and other guys who just know how to win (MJ, Magic, Bird) and the others who have rings who have accepted secondary roles (Robinson, Quitten, Drexler) and then you have Laettner. I think they would have no problems in the East. And could maker it pretty far in the West. C - Robinson & Ewing though they are on the downside of their careers could match up with anyone other than Shaq very well. Also you would probably see Kalr playing here some if CB4 would come back healthy. PF - Karl is ageless. Granted he is now slightly below the likes of Duncan & KG, but a 1-2 punch of Karl & CB would be a sgood as anyone. Laettner is a solid role player. SF - Mullin is a shooter who can play good defense in short spurts. Wouldn't expect much outr of him. Bird could potentially be used as a shooter but I think he would be done. Quitten could possibly play well along MJ again, but SF could be a weak link. May see a bigger line up with CB or Laettner playing SF or playing 3 guards. SG - MJ would still be one of the 5 best players in the league, although I doubt if he would be the best. Drexler still looks healthy and would do fine as well. PG - tockton always gets the job done. I hate him but the guy can still play. MAgic, if healthy, could definetely contribute. What 2 better PG than these 2 distributing fools. Better hope they have some guys ready to help on IR, because you would see alot of injuries, but if healthy I think they cwould be very good. ------------------
I think they can win another ring. Imagine a Utah Jazz with David Robinson who is still very productive (much better than Doney Mrshall), Pippen who is, well, still Pippen, and Jordan who is now down to 220 pounds (his ideal weight for playing) ------------------
Just having Jordan and Malone would be enough. Then you add in Robinson, Laettner, and Stockton. They may go 82-0. Drexler and Pippen off the bench. That team would roll. ------------------ humble, but hungry.
Barkley would have no choice but to roll. ------------------ "So you say you want some intelligent responses? I say give me something intelligent to respond to." -- Dimwits beware, B-Ball freak tells it like it is. Sing it bro!
How old are some of these players ? Mullin and Laetnner both have trouble making NBA teams right now. Ewing is now reduced to average nba standards. Quitten, I flat-out think he's overrated, another average player. Magic, Jordan, and Drexler are all out of playing shape. Are we talking about if they suited up right now ? ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Yes. That is why I said "I mean today/next season." Obviously in their prime they would blow everyone away the way they did to the Angolan national team. The question is, do those guys have enough left right now, in their decrepit state, to bring it for 82 games plus a deep playoff run? ------------------ I'm about to boldly go where many men have gone before.
Actually there's a theory that a solid championship team with players who know their role could beat an all-star team. Of course, this isn't your ordinary all star team. To answer your question, no chance. ------------------ "norm, would you like to buy an indian scalp ? This deal isn't gonna make or break me Norm, so don't jerk me around." Harry Carey "Norm, if I had a mohawk scalp, I wouldn't be sitting here talking to you."
Imagine how slow these guys would be if they played today. Any team with young legs could easily beat these guys.
Interesting. this team would start off like the rockets did. win some loose some. as the season went on they would just get better and better. none of these guys were particularly injury prone for their career. I dont think injuries would cause too much damage. by mid season they would be unstopable. sure they would loose some, but come playoff time it would be ugly to watch themm whoop on the kids out there. Imagine the pride these guys have. dont you think CB4 would work his ass into serious shape, and REALLY FAST. especially with the support of the other guys. these guys would be SO supportive of each other just to prove they are the best. also Malone is still elite, so is stockton, Im sure Jordan is still legit. I doubt the Birds and Magics have forgotten how to shoot. age dosnt remove skill, it just takes strength and speed. with Magis as your 6'10 pg, a 66 SG in jordan, a 7 foot SF in Bird, A Tree trunk of a PF in malone ans 2 7 footers as center. this is a mismatch team for the ages. Stockton is a midget compared to the rest of the team. and so what if a guy goes down with injury, this team is sickly deep 60-22 most losses before all star break likely win title, maybe, MAYBE lose one of the shorter series(not a team that COULD loose a 7 game series) peace ------------------ Hanta-Force Paintball www.hanta-force.com
