Would the elbow incident be getting all this attention if Artest didn't speak up

I'm just wondering if the league would done anything if Artest didn't complain and get ejected? I don't think anyone would have said anything and Kobe would have continued doing what he's been doing. I'm glad Artest called him out. Everyone knows Ron isn't just some wimp complaining about a little physical contact. I bet Ron wishes that the league would let him do what Kobe gets away with almost every game. Unfortunately it would result in a lot of people falling to the ground.

I don't think so actually, I think this brought national media attention to Kobe's dirty plays and combined with Fisher's play it really got the nation to see a different side of the NBA's glamor team, ESPN especially took this angle.

No, that's why I stand behind Ron all the way. I was not mad at him at all fr getting ejected. He is a real man, unlike most NBA players. Ron has gained much more respect from me in these last few playoff games. Resign him, we need his swagger and attitude.

Of course not. That's why Ron is such a good complement to Yao and Shane, who are too gentlemanly sometimes and would rather be PC than solve the problem.

HELL NO. That's why Artest is THE MAN for standing up for himself, the team, the fans, the media and the league and exposing Kobe as a fraud. Artest may have gotten ejected but this was the smartest thing he's ever done. And his follow up post game interview was pure genius and extremely brilliant.

Ronald Artest. Rocket Hero, beautiful mind, kick ass hair cut, Tru Warier.

Same thing happened to Battier who is such a nice guy. He did not speak up then it did not draw too much attention

The funny thing is that Kobe's cheapshot on Shane was much more malicious than the elbow to Ron, but since he didn't speak up, it's been brushed under the rug.

Would've gotten less attention than the Game 1 elbow and knee.

    It would be much less.

Artest's reaction has caused the microscope to fall on Kobe. Kobe's on thin ice I think. He can't get away with any more excessive crap, or he'll get suspended.

I think Artest kinda helped bringing attention back to the knee+elbow to shane. I believe this flagrant 1 did also include consideration from the game1 cheapshot. That's why we are able to see any punishment at all... at least that's how I feel. flagrant 1 for two incidents, that's all kobe's gonna get though.

what has the league done NOW after ron called for attention? a flagrant 1? that is a joke. i still hold my position that it was not worth a rejection, because otherwise we still would've had a chance to win game 2. oh well.

Just from ESPN-PTI: "Kobe did a lot of this (throwing elbows) on the court and a lot of people were upset about it, but only Artest really stood up this this time..."

No no no no no no no no no no.

TNT would have never replayed that play 10 times in slow motion. Collins wouldn't have noticed Kobe's elbow, and if he did, would've credited Kobe for fighting for that rebound.

Yeah, I just finished watching that, too. It's awesome how the media actually realizes that if it was ron throwing that elbow, he would have gotten suspended. They also said a lot of people are pissed off at how Kobe gets away with these elbows pretty often.
