Little Stevie Franchise has to go. Who we get in return is of little consequence so long as the package includes a point who has an ounce of basketball IQ. I'm starting to think Steve is playing his way out of town. I don't think he will outlast JVG. The problem as I see it is Steve is a top-tier ATHLETE. However he posesses little to no basketball instincts nor IQ in the form of a team game. In 4+ pro years his game may have regressed instead of improved. Most star (All Star?) type players tend to show this type of improvement by now. Steve's game has always been the ability to beat his man, physically, one on one. As he ages his physical advantages will fade leaving a max contract 30+ year old who can't check his own man, can no longer get past a defender, and continues to make poor decisions with the ball when he's not dribbling the logo off of it.

Not to encourage Trade Steve threads...but if you were going to trade him, this would be an awesome deal to make. Chandler would compliment Yao well, and Hinrich is going to be a star.

Only downside would be that one of Hinrich's greatest strengths, the ability to effectively run a team at high speed, a la Nash, would be sort of wasted on a Yao centered team.

Yes and No, Hinrich could lead the break with the other 3 guys and if it fails, he can wait for Yao to catch up.

Kareem never ran the break with the showtime lakers, and they were probably the best fast breaking team of all time.

Yeah, and Hinrich has the sweet outside J, and plays serious defense, both of which would fit. Plus he's just basketball smart.

Chandler's back would be a concern.

I would love to have Hinrich on the Rockets. Almost 6 assts, 3 turnovers. 2:1 ratio (ain't I good at math?)

sf has been constantly beaten up by no-name rookie pgs.

tonight he played one good game in a while, but in a loosing effort. He did not make his teammates better though...

This trade is great for the Rox. Hinrich is a great fit at pg, and Chandler is up-and-coming.

But will Chicago want to do this? They traded Elton Brand for Chandler basically, I think.

As much as I love Steve, that is a trade that I would make.

Hinrich is a player that a lot of teams would love to have. He's smart; he can play defense; and he is a great outside shooter. Besides, he's got solid athleticism and good size (him being 6'3" is the reason why he is a better prospect than TJ Ford is). Pure point guards who can actually play on the NBA level are very difficult to get, and Hinrich is one of them. Watching him play reminds me of John Flopton.

Chandler's injuries have hurt his values a lot, but this is a guy who has a chance to be an elite player in this league (not just a good one).

More importantly,, as I have always said, Steve is not worth that maximum contract, period.

Hinrich + Chanlder for Steve? It's worth the gamble. The Bulls have underachieved this year due to various reasons, and they almost have to make some changes. In my opinion, they may just pull the trigger on this deal if it can get them a star player like Francis.

wow what a coincidence, was just thinking to myself that if somehow they traded Steve to Chicago that it would nice to get Kirk and Chandler back in return.... my guess is once his max contract kicks in we would have eat some other large contract of the bulls (say Eddie Rob or A Davis) to make it work...... if he had to go and i have not given up on steve at all yet, this would be a nice deal

maybe the question should be can those two dudes get you Steve, and the awnser is NO! steve's on a slump and that slupm is not permanent, he will snap out of it and be the old francis, the one that doesn't look to get fouled first, and the one that can make a basket when he is open, but he will definetly snap out of it eventually.

Anyone have an idea as to what's up with Chandler's back? I remember reading that an MRI didn't show anything, but he's taking a long time to come back. Did he injure it in training camp/preseason? Last season? Bad backs can be a chronic problem. I've got one. Of course my wife says it's not my back... that I'm "just chronic and a problem, you twit!", or something to that effect.

Chandler has a hell of a lot of potential and Henrich has 4 years of college to go with his obvious gifts. Intriguing. And Chicago is a place Francis might like going to. He wanted to go there before he was drafted behind Brand.

I suggested this trade a while ago, but I think for the Bulls to bite you have to take back Eddie Robinsons cap-albatross of a salary. Still worth it if you ask me. If the Bulls don't want to give up Hinrich, I would probably also agree to take either Crawford or Curry in his place.

Bulls would never do this trade. The love Hinrich and still have hope for Crawford.

Maybe we can get a center that plays with heart instead of getting bullied around the paint.

Yeah, I think I've been pimping this for a while.

I'd definately want Heinrich, but I could go with Curry or Chandler, when the time comes to deal. I like Chandler's game better with Yao, but you'd have to check the back and Curry may be the one on the outs in the windy city.

If the time is now, and we use the TE to eat the BYC, we get just two guys back, right? I think I'd want a pick, too. They may want to wait till summer, when they have to take a crap contract back like E.Robinson (who's been playing ok, lately?) and can use the TE in a seperate deal to get another good player.

Me, I'd do it now. Yesterday. Then I'd make the Indy deal for Harrington, with or without Tinsley, too; using whatever they need from Cato, Mobley and Boki. Presto, an intimidating front line and a point guard to get them the ball. We've got extra twos and can pick one up us as needed this summer with the MCE. If you get the pick, talented 2s can break into the league pretty fast. We'd have a pretty solid 8-man rotation, talent concentration and direction, and a good chance for the coach to really earn his money and shape the team into winners.

Yeah, I'd certainly prefer that to this beat-your-head-against-a-brick wall struggle we have now.

Hinrich is going to be a (legit) star. I'd do Francis for Hinrich straight up if the salaries worked.

Yeah, I've got to admit that this trade has occurred to me before too. I am not giving up on Steve either, but among the options out there, if you're going to trade him, this would be close to optimum value.
