Oh, like Lebron gives a **** about pursuing Jordan. It's being a billionaire that matters, it's being having a great brand that matters and playing with your buddies while toying with the entire league for two years. That's what matters to him, not chasing after the greatest player with his incredible talents, but rather being like Shaq.

    He doesn't give a ****.

LeBron has explicitly stated that he wanted to be remembered as LeBron James #6. Not heir, clone, etc. to Michael Jordan. He wants to create his own legacy and brand much as how Jordan did.

Notice how LeBron is making millions off endorsements and really selling himself to the consumer market. That is a legacy. Even after he retires, he will be remembered for decades, maybe even a century or two.

    GARBAGE!!!!

I didn't realize the Heat were the 2 time defending champs, like Detroit. Also, Pippen > Wade. Hell, I'll take Ho Grant over Bosh.

Through all this bs, someone should answer this question, who was bird, jordan, and magic's 2nd best player. To a man, its not even close to james 2nd best player. Bird had mchale and parrish. Kareem was finals mvp in 85 along with big game james.Pippen is a hof. Mo williams or jamison is james 2nd best player.

But, but, but...the Cavs had the best record in the league which was clearly attributed to his high-powered supporting class, right? :p

Lets put it this way...Lebron has a LOT less hall of famers on his new team than Bill Russell had on the Celtics when he won all those championships...do we say Russell was a loser that didn't deserve them? Nope...we say "yeah he had a lot of help, but he is still the 'winningest' player of all time."

Russell was lucky as hell to be in Boston at the right time...James had to make his own luck.

I hate comparing history because the figures always get warped out of proportion as more time passes. "Would MJ have done this?" Who the hell knows, he didn't live in the twitter age and get recruited out of high school. The point I'm trying to make is the landscape is so different from MJ's era. It's different from even 10 years ago.

93-94 buddy, know your rockets history. Who was Olajuwons second best player? It's not impossible...great players find a way. They make other people better and find ways to make the team work. They don't take the easy road.

I bet you anything that Hakeems teamates in 93-94 would beat lebrons teamates last year, the year before, and definately in the 2007 team that went to the finals.

What's funny is everyone seems to talk like LBJ would have an easier time and just loaf around. It will be really funny when Lebron still puts a triple double on higher FGs and wins his 3rd MVP.

Exactly, if he's on top of the world putting up 25, 9, and 7 and winning ring after ring as finals mvp, is he really going to care about this crap?

People wanted to see him stay and be miserable in Cleveland, a team that's made zero upgrades this offseason and with zero assets/flexibility to get any better. If they had any semblance of promise, it'd be a different story, but with that roster and no flexibility, there's a high likelihood of ending up 30-something and ringless. If the ultimate goal is to win, why not mix things up and try and start a dynasty?

He's absolutely right about that. I don't think LeChoke fully understands what he's just done. He's royally screwed himself and there's no going back.

Really premature to make such a statement. Furthermore, is the ultimate goal to win as many championships as possible or to be remembered as a better player than larry bird?

Although it is totally different, Jordan left the Bulls for Baseball, but still no bridges should be burned entirely.
Just a bitter owner there and fans. Those don't have the bigger picture in mind. Once James won his first two rings, he'll probably want to win and retire ultimatively with his hometown team. That's what the common sense would suggest.

writers like to deify Jordan's competitiveness

but in truth Jordan's not really a good blueprint for Lebron or anyone else. of course Jordan won 6 championships but he pissed away chances for at least 2 more with his lack of focus. how "competitive" was that?

writers like to push an angle... would any player really like to be like Mike? with the gambling, the bullying, the philandering, the QUITTING to play baseball then the backtracking?

Lebron's decision was a dick move in many ways but not "being like Mike" isn't one of them

in Lebron's mind the decision obviously was between 1 or 2 championships in Cleveland/Chicago or something legendary and never before seen in Miami. I mean for Jordan 6 championships was enough... instead of 8 or 9 or even 11 like Russell. when it's all said and done all that's going to matter is how many rings Lebron wins in Miami kids in 10 years really wont care that Lebron left Cleveland if he delivers wins

Why do people saying Lebron is gonna earn billions? Jesus Christ, are you guys 5 year olds? You know MJ, the greatest player ever? Yea, that dude hasn't even earned one billion dollars even with his global empire.

LBJ will not earn a billion dollars. Fans are gonna hate on him for this whole debacle and that's gonna mean lower sponsorship deals. It means he's going to sell less merchandise.

LBJ can earn 10 rings and I doubt he is gonna be as well-loved and respected and remembered as Jordan, Russell, Magic, etc.

Jordan's brand is still selling shoes and products all over the world years after his retirement. Will LBJ's brand do the same years after his retirement? Possibly but not if he can't repair his image.

    Magic, Bird, Jordan, Thomas, Duncan..?

One of these things is not like the others, one of these things--it doesn't belong

    Hakeem gets slighted again.
