Would it be better just to let Tmac's contract expire?

If we can't get a real star in return for Tmac should we consider just letting him sit out the year. Who knows Tmac might even consider a buyout beneficial to the rockets if he is not traded by the deadline.

I was looking at some of the free agents available next year and it looks tobe a good crop. I mean besides the cream of the crop Wade, Lebron, Bosh their seems to be alot of second tier players that me be available on the cheap.

Think about it after the big money is spent on Lebron Bosh wade and maybe Johnson, who else is going to want to spend millions on a some of who are injury prone. The Rockets should have 8-10 mil available and if the denounce Chuck hayes can add 2 more mil. Take a look for yourself and decide if you think any of these players could help us.

    Guaranteed Max
    LeBron James (P)
    Dwyane Wade (P)
    Chris Bosh (P)

    Close to Max (10-15mil)
    Joe Johnson
    Amare Stoudemire (ETO)
    Josh Howard (T)

    Between max and Mid Level(7-10Mil)
    Al Harrington
    David Lee

    Little More than Mid(Mid - 8Mil)
    Tyson Chandler (ETO)
    Jermaine O'Neal
    Tracy McGrady
    Michael Redd (ETO)
    Kenyon Martin (ETO)

    Mid or less (4-6 Mil)
    Raymond Felton
    Richard Jefferson (ETO)
    Travis Outlaw
    Joel Przybilla (ETO)
    Amir Johnson
    Antoine Wright
    Jared Jeffries (ETO)

    Lowr Level (2-5Mil)
    Leon Powe (T)
    J.J. Barea (T)
    Drew Gooden
    Acie Law
    Quentin Richardson
    Rodney Carney

Felton and Outlaw will get better contracts than Tmac IMO.

Yes, I think it will be best to let it expire.

What a waste that would be. Over 40M of waste for just the last 2 seasons.

I think we will end up letting him expire (or bought out) but I've love to pick up someone nice even if someone else's garbage comes with him. Then pick up a MLE or below player. Kind of a 2 for 1 deal.

His contract has been a sunk cost for a while now.

A bad manager would trade him now "just to get something because we have paid so much". A good manager will let it expire (unless a real opportunity presents itself, which is doubtful) and will position himself for next summer.

Fortunately, Daryl Morey is a good manager.

I agree with you, unless they get someone THEY want, I don't think they'll pull the trigger just to get rid of him. I don't think it necessarily has to be a star, just someone they think will fit what they're doing. Unless something just falls into their laps, I don't think this has a chance of working out before the trade deadline. We can only hope tmac's agent can sell someone on his comeback trail and it most likely will be to a struggling team either financial or production wise.

By the way, why did you change your name??

I think your valuation of 5-8M for Mcgradys next contract says it all. How do you sell something for 23M thats worth 5M. It's possible though, trade TMac for Arenas straight up, take Eddie Curry, Jeffries and Chandler or less likely Gallinari from the Knicks.

Hmm. Travis Outlaw is interesting. He would be much better than Ariza in Ariza's current role.

Let it expire! Or he can cut a deal to be bought out at a discount. I'm in no hurry to trade him.

If we let him expire we waste another season, we need to trade his contract for some talent.

Assuming the Arenas rumor was true, it would be pointless to just let him expire.

Jared Jeffries doesn't become a FA until next year. Add Larry Hughes to MLE or less FA list.

Let it expires. Morey will need to resgin Scola and Lowry too, the more flexibility the better.

Whereas the Rockets may renounce Chuck Hayes, they will never denounce him.

Here we are "nouncing" Hayes around. I guess it could be worse -- what if his name were hard to pronounce when it comes time to announce a decision. ;)

That "8-10 million" figure does not include cap holds for Scola and Lowry. If you want to spend that cap room, say goodbye to those two key players.
