The rumors have been ever present since the fateful moped crash. Golden State wanted their freshly paid Point God of the future gone, and he in turn wanted out. Nothing seems to have changed all that and this summer seems like the ideal time to trade Monta, and head in a different direction. His contract is definitely manageable, and the horrific injury he suffered appears fully healed. This would be an ideal time to go after one of the league's bright young stars of the future. I still remember on 2005's draft night where I was praying that we'd take Monta, but instead we chose Luther. Ellis is lightning quick as well as an amazing shooter and finisher. Yes, some may argue that his three ball is not where it needs to be, but given his form and accuracy that too should easily fall into place. It's no secret that elite PG's are among the toughest commodities to acquire in the NBA, and in Monta we would have exactly that. So the question remains. Would Houston want Monta?

He's looks like a great young talent. I question how well he can play defense since Don Nelson doesn't teach it. If he can't play D. We already have a promising young quick point gaurd who can score and can't play D.(Aaron Brooks) Also what would it cost us to get him is another question.

Plus: Monte makes 11 mill a year for six years. Brooks makes 1 mil maxing out at 2 something at the end of 4 years.

i think they'd want him based on his skills, but his contract would be too big for Morey to approve the move. Maybe if they managed to get rid of tmac's contract first or in a deal for him. I dont think think they would take on Monta with Tmac and Yao on the team, they probably would only take a big contract if the player was a superstar.

is it "only" 11 million? I thought it was closer to 13-14, then that might be borderline for Morey. It probably would come down to what happens with Ron, and who they'd have to give up for him. The bad thing is that Monta doesn't have consistent range, so if you give up Brooks in a deal for him that leaves you with point guards with no range. Also, With lowry and brooks we have two good, but very different players. Thats a great combination because we can use them in different ways and they don'thave simlar talents, but monta and lowry are more simlar than different, so there's going to be some redundancy at the pg spot.

monta would be sweet to have on this team...but he did not recover well at all from his ankle injury...i watched him and he looked nothing like last year. But i'd take the gamble

He is young and very talented but I'm not sure I would want to gamble on his health. I would start scouting him now if I was seriously interested.

GS still has the right to void out his contract and it wouldn't surprise me if they did. He's absolutely terrible right now. Not only that, he's becoming a locker room problem too. He's an undersized two that can't really play the point, has a bad attitude and wouldn't fit on this team. Stay away.

wasn't that one of the rumored deals that fell through when tmac said, I'm shutting it down for the season?

Watching Monta Ellis paired with Aron Brooks could end up being brutal to watch. Teams would isolating and posting against our midget guards all day.

That type of sh** annoys me. Ok yes he may have a bad attitude at the time but would ya think it may be because he doesn't like the situation he is in. I mean perfect example is right in front of us: Ron Artest. He definitely had a bad attitude and had the same problem he has of late matured and been a great contributor to us.

And everyone else that tries to post that he does not fit on the team, thats a bunch a crap too. Yes he is an uptempo guy but have you seen the Rockets play lately? They are evolving into an uptempo team, and he would do a great job contributing.

Also Yao can run, he is an athlete playin basketball. If he couldn't run then he shouldn't be out there. I know that's not his strong suit but he can run.

Brooks would definitely be lost if we were to trade for monta. If he was here, they would rarely play together. Pair them up when the matchup calls for it. They would be giving up size, but would it would be hell for opposing players to guard that kind of speed and quickness. I could see Lowry and Monta playing together though. This trade is purely hypothetical, but GS's system is more suited for Brooks than Lowry and thus why I feel like we'd lose out on Brooks. This is key because in a few years Lowry should be the better player.

Feel free to continue trying to kid yourself into thinking the guy doesn't have an attitude problem or maturity issues. I figured you might enjoy this blurb from his ESPN player card:

Not only do I want no part of this kid I want no part of a 6'0 PG/6'3" SG backcourt. He doesn't fit, DOES have a bad attitude and there's a reason the Warriors are seriously considering voiding out his contract. Lesson learned: stay away.

If he gets healthy,I would still take a chance on him. He is a 2 guard who doesn't defend and needs to be on a fast moving team but if he doesn't fit,he still has trade value because of his skills, speed and youth.
It won't be possible to get him because of his contract though.

He doesn't have a Daryl Morey type contract though.

His contract is too pricey, IMO.
