Because it looks like Dallas is on the way out of the playoffs, they will get out eventually, and it looks as if the Mavs are Charlie Brown. I'd love for him to come to Houston, pipe dream as it may be, I think it is likely he leaves

If he's smart and wants to win a ring he will. Like that poster said in the other thread, Dallas is much more about flash, showing off, having great regular seasons, and showcasing their owner than doing what it takes to win a championship. It must be disappointing for Dallas fans because, on paper, they seem to have been one of the better teams if not the best team out of the West for the past several years, excluding the Lakers. It's a poisonous culture and Dirk needs to get out- now.

Dirk probably sees Cuban as his father/friend. Cuban has always defended Dirk and refused to make any trade which involve him. So I dont think Dirk will "betray" him.

Also, from a basketball point of view, Cuban has been very aggressive in trying to improve the team. Dirk cannot complain and say that he does not have a supporting cast around him. A big part of the problem is Dirk himself, who elects for the fadeaway jumper over smaller players in critical situation when his team needed him to score. And that will not change if he simply goes to another team.

I guess the question becomes, will Dirk leave to a team where he does not have to be the primary option?

I don't think Dirk wants to leave, but Cuban might want to trade him for some assets if they decide to rebuild this summer.

Is it possible to do a 3-way sign&trade deal with Dallas and Toronto?

    We get Dirk.
    Dallas gets Bosh.
Toronto gets a combination of players/picks from Dallas and Houston.

    I'd be down with that.

When a franchise player is surrounded by that much talent year in and year out and still can't get himself a ring it is time for him to look in the mirror to find the reason why he keeps coming up short. Dirk isn't winning a ring on any team where he is the best player.

Dirk would be the perfect floor spacing 4 we've needed for several years.

Maybe is time for Mark Cuban to trade Dirk for another star after another choking playoffs performance.

So the question is who would we go after if both were available, Bosh or Dirk?

Dirk is the better player but you have to consider all things. Biggest factor being age. Dirk is going to turn 32 in less than a month. Bosh just turned 26 last month. For that reason alone I'm going with Bosh.

Me, too. But that's a lot of people who have to sign off on big moves.

Dirk is soft!!! Why would you all want him on the team... He doesn't have the heart to truly lead a team. DO NOT WANT!

Trying to visualize Dirk in a Rockets uniform --

Failure due to processing error. He is the enemy.

For everything Dirk and Cuban have done ever sense they were 8 minutes away from a 3-0 lead in the NBA finals it has been let down after let down.

    Lost 1st rd to GS
Lost 1st rd to New Orleans
    Lost semis to Denver
About to lose 1st rd to SA

I think Cuban is ready to revamp the team again after 3 out of 4 first rd loses.

Very doubtful Dirk leaves Dallas. Cuban likes him too much and will pay to keep him.

No place in the NBA for sentimentalism. With their string of playoff failures, not even Dirk should be untouchable.

    S&T, Dirk for Bosh?

Cuban won't part with Dirk, he wants Dirk as the face of the franchise until he retires. Dirk would have to ask out, I still think he can carry a team through stretches of a game but maybe he's best suited to be a complimentary player like Pau Gasol turned into when he was traded from the Grizz to the Lakers.

It would be kinda funny if Wade and Dirk ended up on the same team, seeing how both are on teams that are coming up short in the playoffs and shakeups in each teams will be inevitable.
