Would Curry be a good fit here?

Looks like the Bulls are ready to let Curry go.

Over the summer, Bulls general manager John Paxson engaged in trade talks with Memphis counterpart Jerry West about Eddy Curry.

Names such as Lorenzen Wright and Bo Outlaw were thrown in the Bulls direction, prompting Bulls Chairman Jerry Reinsdorf to preach caution to Paxson's desire to trade Curry, insisting he get more than serviceable players like the Memphis duo.

But now according to K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Tribune two league sources indicated recently that Reinsdorf has acquiesced to Paxson's plan, no small philosophical shift for an owner who originally backed then-general manager Jerry Krause's idea to build around two big men making a bold leap from high school.

"We have played our best when we have played small," coach Scott Skiles said. "We haven't gotten it done consistently with our bigs out there.

"As soon as we went back to the big lineup [against Phoenix], we went down 20 again, almost immediately. That has happened quite a bit in 11 games (including eight exhibitions)."

Curry doesn't fit into the tough, hard-working, physical team Paxson and coach Skiles are trying to build and appears certain to join best friend Jamal Crawford out of town.

Is he athletic enough to play PF in the West? If so his stock is low right now. Hell maybe we could talk Chicago out of A Davis with the right combo. Maybe

Houston trades: PF Maurice Taylor (10.4 ppg, 5.6 rpg, 1.4 apg in 27.4 minutes)
SF Clarence Weatherspoon (4.0 ppg, 1.5 rpg, 0.0 apg in 7.5 minutes)

Houston receives: PF Antonio Davis (6.0 ppg, 3.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 13.0 minutes)
    C Eddy Curry (3.0 ppg, 6.0 rpg, 0.0 apg in 17.0 minutes)
Change in team outlook: -5.4 ppg, +1.9 rpg, and -1.4 apg.

    TRADE ACCEPTED

Davis makes a lot but only has one year left on his contract.

Curry is another high school bust and he wouldn't be a good fit here. Doesn't rebound well, can't shoot, not a very good defender.

Plus, I don't think we have the pieces to trade for him. I don't know why Paxon is even listening to offers like Wright/Outlaw.

Personally, I think the Bulls could package Curry/Deng/Pick for Peja, or Curry for Joe Johnson straight up.

Why would the Bulls take either of those players?

We are so handcuffed right now regarding trades it's not even funny. Our only marketable player right now is Boki and his trade value is minimal at best. We have no expiring contracts whatsoever. The only way we might be able to work it is if we take Boki and the TE for Curry and one of the Bulls bad contracts that doesn't expire this year.

All that being said the last thingwe need is another power forward unless it is a player too good to pass on and Curry has not shown he is that.

We're talking about Mo and Spoon here. Chicago probably wouldn't take them on if we were giving them away for nothing. Their contracts give them negative value. Curry still has a lot of value in a big man starved league. And Davis' contract, while big is a year shorter than Mo's deal.

Who do they have that is better at PF than MT? Weatherspoon comes of the books in 1 year and fits into the tough, hard-working, physical team Paxson and coach Skiles are trying to build. MT would be a very affective PF in the east.

I think if the Bulls wanted a big man, they'd want someone who can run the court with the Baby Bulls' Backcourt. Just my .02.

The Bulls can do fine with Chandler and AD up front.. better optiosn than Taylor for them. Especially in the East, those guys are solid. AD isn't getting run moreso because they're developing/showcasing Curry. AD may have lost some with age, but he's still alright.

Good post about us not having any tradeable assets. And don't forget the whole "can't trade a player with the TE". And why would you want to trade Boki now?

Plus, teams that trade for Boki have his deal expire after this year since we didnt' pick up the option..

Big maybe. He showed the other night that he can still bring it, but it makes no sense to acquire Curry unless the trade involves a 3rd team, and other players/draft picks are thrown around in the process.

I'm sure Jerry West is busily talking with Mr Paxson just now.

Curry can score, and so can Juwan and MoT. We need better rebounding and defense in the PF position. Curry cannot provide that.
