Besides Phil Jackson, who would be a good fit for the coaching job if Van Gundy was to be replaced? Only list available coaches please.
I hear Bill Fitch, Doug Moe, Dick Motta, Gene Shue and Paul Westhead are all sitting by their phones.
I would really like for the Rockets next coach to be a fat one. I think Rick Majerus would be a good hire.
Elie isn't ready for a head coaching job. Don Nelson Jr isn't going anywhere. He will probably end up GM of the Mavs and Avery Johnson will probably end up their coach.
I really think and do believe that after this year JVG is out that the Rockets will push hard for Phil Jackson to coach the Rockets. But all in all they will definently do a 180 in coaching styles when they do change. JVG's days are numbered in my opinion.
Billy Cunningham and KC Jones just posted their resumes on Monster.com - Bob Hill is checking his datebook right now. In other news Stu Jackson is eyeing the VP of basketball operations position.
I hear Doug Mo is a real commedian too. That would be a refreshing change of pace after The Gundy regime.
I wonder why you say this. With players becoming coaches, it's hard to tell who's ready. Isaiah, Clyde, Bird, Magic, Mo Cheeks, Nate McMillan, etc. Seems like there are more misses than hits, but some guys surprise you. Is Michael Cooper ready in Denver? Is Avery going to be a good coach in Dallas? I think Mario will make a good coach for some team someday because he's both cerebral and fiery, and I think he'd do well with Xs and Os. But I have no idea when he'll be "ready", or what it would take to get him there. It's really a crapshoot.
No, bball has past him. Riley was a great coach, but he couldn't get the Knicks over the hump, then completed destroyed the Heats until landing the Shaq lottery this year. His tense style has run its course with today's athlete, you need look no further from his pupil, our beloved headman, JVG.
