I nominate those as potential candidates who think it's ok to expropriate a hotel "just because" and those who think it's ok to shut out news media outlets which don't have the same political agenda, because "they lie".

It's funny how some of those who scream for civil rights seem to very much change their tune when the government's actions fit their own political agenda.

Sometimes people don't deserve the right to govern themselves. At a time like that a true leader of the people needs to step forward and provide leadership to his/her country in a time of peril. The crowd is not always right, is often irrational and often would make the wrong judgement call.

I don't think anyone needs to shut out Fox News, but at the same time "they lie" doesn't need to be in quotes. They do lie. Just look at the story that started the whole uproar.

Oh hell yes. For my first decree, I'd ban any loud motorcycles and ridiculously tricked out car stereos that you can feel four cars away at a stoplight (feeling my fillings to your crappy music is something that would end). For my second, I'd ban tattoos on good looking chicks. For my third, no smoking anywhere, ever, unless you're with a group a guys and somebody passes around a Cuban while you're playing poker. I'd also do stuff that would impose on our freedoms, like cap credit card rates at 6%, make it illegal for companies to charge you to protect your privacy (what a scam... they should be doing it anyway), do away with exotic mortgages and financial instruments, forced relocation to Midwest towns of less than 20,000 for anyone currently making over $500,000 on Wall Street (if you're so smart and valuable, let's see you do something constructive... and you can also prove you can support yourself without cronyism), and indoctrination in American History for any Californian that feels superior because they live in California and know a celebrity. Thus be the laws of rimrocker.

I would be. Not in any ways that are traditionally seen, though. I wouldn't take over businesses or supress the press, and I'd only throw Bud Adams and Karl Malone in jail. Then I'd ban the Jazz and move the Cowboys to Oklahoma City. 90% approval ratings, here I come.

I wonder if any of you would institute something like this :D.

Swazi king runs eye over 50,000 virgins

Waiting for an offer they can't refuse … girls gather for the annual reed dance. Being selected as a royal wife is one of very few ways to escape poverty.

Portly and beaming in a leopardskin loincloth, King Mswati III of Swaziland basked in the adoration of 50,000 topless virgins who paraded before him, vying to become his new queen.

Legions of half-naked teenage girls danced, twirled and pounded the earth outside the royal kraal on Monday, proclaiming their willingness to become the next bride of the last absolute monarch in sub-Saharan Africa. He already has 12 wives and a fiancee.

"We are happy, we are healthy and we are alone," sang thousands of tuneful, high-pitched voices. "We are the flowers of the Swazi people." Mswati reclined on a throne under a golden awning.

This annual Umhlanga, or Reed Dance, is the highlight of Swaziland's traditional calendar. Every chief in the country of a million people sends a group of teenage virgins to the royal kraal in Ludzidzini. Every year the ceremony expands. Monday's occasion attracted more than twice as many girls as last year.

Yet in a country where 42.6 per cent of the adult population is infected with HIV or AIDS - the highest rate in the world - critics say Mswati sets a bad example.

"It's as if the girls are going on an auction sale with the king picking," said Mario Masuku, the leader of the People's United Democratic Movement, a banned opposition party. "I would not encourage my daughter to take part in this. It is being abused for one man's personal satisfaction."

Last year, the 37-year-old monarch chose 16-year-old Miss Teen Swaziland, Nothando Dube. His eldest daughter, Princess Sikhanyiso, is 17.

The king will study a video of the festivities before choosing a fiancee. She will become a fully fledged queen when impregnated.

Last year the king spent almost $21.5 million on palaces and BMWs for his wives. Meanwhile a third of the population depend on international food aid.

"I want to be a queen because I want to be famous and I want people to look at me," said Gindza Mondlanha, 22, a trainee policewoman. "I also want a BMW - not a Mercedes, a BMW series X5."

Yet some were ardently hoping not to catch the royal eye.

"I don't like it and I don't believe in it," said one 21-year-old participant, who asked not to be named. "I want to pick my own husband and get all the love I deserve as a woman."

ok no offense, but I'm now convinced that you're stupid. I usually never resort to ad-hominem attacks, but it's clear that you still REFUSE to understand that Chavez is a democratically elected president whose government was the MAJOR shareholder in that hotel he "stole" or as normal people call it nationalized.

Then you turn around and make this thread, brilliant!

you're a joke dude, you're no less of a troll than Asso or Bigot_Jorge

I would definitely become a dictator. From the sounds of it, I would also be ok with rimrocker being in power.

I can't help being reminded of Harvey Dent's speech from The Dark Knight about Roman dictators.

Anyway I would hope that what people say on an Internet board isn't what they would do if they actually had power.

There is no more efficient form of government than a benevolent king.

And that's what I pledge to be.

If I were the dictator of the US, I would do a lot of things that would make conservatives happy and I would do a lot of things that would make liberals happy. As such, I would piss everyone off equally and probably suffer the same fate as JFK.

It wouldn't be my first act and I wouldn't "legalize" anything, I would regulate the living heck out of the most dangerous substances we know of.
