    Worst Video Game Ending Ever - Half Life 2

    SPOILERS

    Man, after days of fighting through this game - one that had more of a fright/paranoia/coolness factor than Doom 3 - I get to the last level, and boy did it suck.

    It was easier than the first level. All of a sudden you become a superman with a superweapon thanks to some kind of electrical accident. The ending - uggghh - what a rip off. You accomplish your mission only to be yanked back into "limbo" by the Cancer Man-style creepy guy, auctioning your involuntary services off to the highest bidder.

    No happy ending, no resolution to the war between humanity & the Combine, the hot girl dies...

    Sad & stupid. The Steam client that is installed and needed to run the game has trashed my system so much that I won't even be trying the new Counterstrike.

    Back to Halo 2 on Xbox Live I go...

    As long as game companies can get away with selling games by marketing the sizzle and not the steak, they'll keep doing this..


    I can't even *remember* the last time I played a video game with a decent conclusion.

    Yeah, MOH's "ending" was pretty crappy, but what gets me is the fact that so many people b****ed about Halo 2's ending.

    Halo 2's ending built anticipation for Halo 3 b/c you were pumped for continuing the battle. It left you angry & wanting more.

    HL2's ending, on the other hand, completely deflated you. You fight so hard, and then Cancer Man freezes time/space, take you to limbo, and says "Nice job, now I'm gonna freeze you until I decide who I want to w**** your services out to, at the time/place of my choosing." WTF?!

    The only reason I was angry is because it was cheesy and disappointing. I was left wanting more because the game didn't feel satisfying in length or story. The final battle was dumb, and the game itself felt like it cut off too short for production time reasons and to leave something for Halo 3. It felt like you were playing Halo 1.5...

    Not done with Halo yet on Herois. I'm freeing prisoners! Hopefully not too much longer to go. These battles are insanely hard.

    Best Video Game Conclusion Ever

    Metal Gear Solid Snake Eater and GTA San Andreas

    These are the two greatest games of the year, and probably the past ten years.

    Metal Gears Ending was beyond amazing, as I said before, it was greater than any movie I have seen in the past 3 years.

    Go play Metal Gear Solid 3. You will NOT be disappointed. You won't get some of the jokes, but it's a prequel to the first 2 (well, 3-4) games, and is REALLY well done, in terms of story throughout, and the ending...freaking awesome.

    you have already beat GTA? Damn.....I am close to finishing the story part of the game, and I thought I was damn far....put way too much time into the game....had to lock it up away from myself for this month.

    How can you complain about Half Life 2 and in the same breath be happy with Halo 2 when talking about endings?

    Playing multiplayer in Halo 2 is one thing (which is freakin' awesome), but single player...yeah....

    And I agree with the others...you want a real epic time/conclusion, play a little Metal Gear Solid.

    Last year at a Christmas party at work <I work at a movie theater>, they let us play the video games for free, so a couple of guys kept continuing on this game and after you make it through hundreds of levels, the screen goes completely blank! That's the ending! It's actually programmed to do that. Some of the stuff that the game started doing before the screen went blank was pretty crazy, however. The little ghost men just start coming for you from all directions.

    I have a collectors edition pac man arcade machine, it has every pacman game ever made and several that were never released.

    I bought it off an Ex midway programmer.

    Only like 10 of them were ever made.

    Because the ending of Halo 2 (while ripping me off) - built ANTICIPATION for the final battle on Earth.

    The ending of HL2 made me sick, and resolved nothing. Essentially you're where you were at after the first HL but NOTHING is even hinted at...

    Crap!
