Here is my question. Which would be the worst "un" calls against the Rockets in team history. By uncalls I mean plays against us that ultimately lead to our defeat that were fouls or obviously bad plays by the opposing team on defense or offense that were not called by the referees. In my opinion, the moving pick by Karl Malone has to be the most awful one. I saw a clip on NBA TV of that shot, and he moved with Drexler, preventing him from guarding Stockton, which ultimately made him open for that bulls**t shot. Any other ones that can come to your minds? Later
I remember something about the ball going off one of the Sonic players hands late in Game 7 in the 93 playoffs. The refs called it off of us and the series was over. I think we would have gone on to win the Championship that year. We would have won 3 in a row instead of 2.
Dream claims he was fouled on his last shot attempt of that game and the ref said "you wouldn't of made it anyway."
The one that hurt us the most. The year we lost to the Sonics in 7 at their home. That was all caused by the tip in by David Robinson that was late and everyone knew it was late causing us to loose home court advantage to the Sonics and ultimatly loosing to them at their home. That's one that will always be there in mind.
Yeah, I was going to post that one as well but I couldn't remember the exact situation. Game 7 shouldn't have even been in Seattle. Oh well, we got our Championships....Seattle didn't.
here is some more in depth stuff from the rockets site. (April 25, 1993) The Rockets needed to beat the Spurs to clinch the No. 2 seed in the 1993 Western Conference playoffs. They should have won, but a blown call gave them a 119-117 loss and home-court advantage for just the first round. The Rockets were leading 109-107 in the fourth quarter, when David Robinson tipped in a miss to send the game to overtime. Replays later showed the tip was after time had expired. In the 1993 Western Conference Semifinals, the Rockets lost 4-3 to the Seattle SuperSonics with the home team winning every game. Several Rockets players pointed to the San Antonio game as the inspiration for their 15-0 start to the 1993-94 season.
I think the robinson/sonics calls were the worst calls in our history, had we gotten those calls correctly we would have gone to the WCF and put up a great fight with the suns and hopefully then the finals Even though I cant ever forgive the refs for letting karla get away with the bear hug, if I remember right the rockets were up 8 or 10 late in that game and let the jazz, namely stockon, come back and put themselves in the position to win the game. That should not have happen, everyone remembers the shot, but to me the bigger disappointment in that game was allowing the jazz back in when we had the game in our hands.
The bearhug by Malone leading to the shot and the constant zone defense by the Sonics against Hakeem stand out in my mind as the worst calls.
The worst UN call? that would be the one where Kofi Annan called up Les to tell him his refrigerator was running. Man, that Kofi is just delectable.
you couldn't be more right. We were up 90-77 midway through the 4th quarter and still had a 94-84 lead with just under 3 minutes to go. I personally think the calls in Game 7 at Seattle in 1993 were the worst calls in Rockets history. But I'll bring up another bad "un" call. It was the last game the Rockets played with the replacement refs in the 95-96 season. It was at Portland, and the Blazers won the game in 2OTs 103-101 on a Sabonis shot that was CLEARLY after the buzzer.
