I've actually been thinking of doing this for a while ... Lil Pun forced my hand though. For me, without a doubt, Louie Anderson. Damn he sucks. Carrot-top is pretty bad too. I know there is so much more. Gimme names people.
I rented an old Bobcat Golthwait? VHS stand up video at Blockbuster once. Man it was horrible. He sucks. As for Carrot Top, i have never seen him do stand-up unless you count those many appearances on Leno. I thought he was funny from a creativity aspect, you know with all those props. Some of those props were hilarious.
Dennis Miller. I can't stand that guy... As for Carrot Top, I never saw his act, but judged him solely on his annoying commercials. More than a few people have told me his prop comedy is actually very funny. I'm going to have to check him out... x34
some of Carrot Tops props are funny, but he still annoys the hell out of me. Much like Gallagher. VERY good call Jeff. Ooo, I can smash a watermelon. Funny.
Carrot Top from what I see on Leno and stuff is funny. I remember when I was like 10 or so, Gallagher was hilarious. Now I watch it at 20 and it just isn't that funny. I mean some of it is, but not that much.
Oh... who is that white guy with the squinty eyes and the annoying voice? He played the adoption agency guy in Problem Child, and he's also the voice of the Mr. Sub mascot. He does stand up all the time and he's really bad. That voice is dreadful! Does anyone know who I'm talking about??
Gilbert Gottfried.. that's the guy.
Rosie O'Donnell used to do standup in the 80s, and it was hideous. It boiled down to ... "Back when I was a kid, we didn't have Guns and Roses.. (yells/sings "Welcome to the Jungle") ...we had the Partridge Family, you know, (yells/sings "Come on Get Happy") ...and Guns and Roses... (yells/sings "Welcome to the Jungle") ...would never tour with their mothers, like the Partridge Family... (yells/sings "Come on Get Happy")" A gotdamn train wreck. So evil that I'm going to have to leave my apartment right now to take in some cheap domestic beer...
Sam Brown. Luckily, he still toils in seedy LA nightclubs, so consider yourselves lucky. He thinks stand up "comedy" is torturing his audience for 20 minutes while talking about all of his neuroses and his miserable childhood. He'll literally stand silent for almost 30 seconds when he feels the crowd slipping away (which is always).
God, Sinbad sucks. This quote is from his bio he put on a web page. "Sinbad’s name recalls the literary legend that symbolizes strength, adventure and optimism and is what he strives for." Gag. Tip #1 for comedians: wacky suits don't make your lame-ass bits any funnier. Robert Kline, Bob Sagget and Paul Reiser are awful, too. Jeff Foxworthy is perhaps the worst. He needs his ass kicked. "You might be really tired of one joke based on a cultural cliche if..."
Over in the "best of ...thread" I head the mention of Emo Phillips, so I checked him out. I'm going to drop him off right here. NCSTATEFAN- no flame here. I've always thought Robin Williams was way overrated as a comedian. Myself, I can't stand his act. I do think he is a fine actor, however. That is, when he doesn't feel the need to inject some of his "trademark" improv into the movie... x34
Woohoo! Never thought I'd have a chance to mention this quasi-anecdote. For a while in the early '90s, I worked on an occasional project basis for a Reebok office in Los Angeles that was devoted mostly to promotions -- in other words, giving free stuff to celebrities. Sinbad used to, like, hang out there all the time. Whether it was to maximize his supply of free shoes & clothes, or because most of the staff consisted of women in their 20s and 30s, or just because he had no life, I never figured out.
i saw a sinbad show on comedy central one time and thought it was one of the funniest things ever. that's the only time i've ever seen him though, so i can't say if his other bits are stupid.
I gotta agree with Dennis Miller. This guy has never gotten a chuckle out of me. How in the hell has he made it in TV this long?? Also, I just never found trash talking female comedians funny. X34- I agree, I have pretty much enjoyed the majority of Williams movies. Just that stand-up act sucks!
