I don't get it... If I lived in Houston I would be at every single game.

Its like that every time the game starts at 7:00 instead of the usual 7:30. I've seen it plenty of times in other cities when the game starts earlier than usual.

I thought this was going to be another Dallas thread :D

Speaking of which, I wish we were like Philly's fans... those guys are ruthless and unforgiving in their ways..
Maybe if our fans are like that, that would motivate our players to actually play during the 4th quarter

Yeah, man the crowd looked awful. What an embarrassment. I couldn't believe how many scores of empty seats there were :(

i don't think even we hold a candle to atlanta. and yes, it's earlier than usual. still doesn't mean it will end up a great crowd, but that's a big part of it.

Not to worry, I'm sure the seats will start filling up once we get a winning tradition like Dallas and SA

btw, I still think Dallas is the worse.. just because I hate them

Houston in consistency of attendance, bottom half or third. Houston fans seem to have some knowledge of the sports, just dont attend them as much.

I'm near Los Angeles and it can get bad here at times. Its like they talk about sports because they saw in one of the trendy magazines that when you bring it up in conversation its image enhancement and boosts your appeal.

Atlanta and Seattle are worse. So is Indy. For major cities, Atlanta is the grand champion.

yeah, Atlanta is undoubtedly worse. You can make the good/playoffs argument all you want, but even the Braves don't sell out playoff games..

    That explains everything.

NBA should start blacking out games that aren't sold out. It'll teach us.

I haven't done the scientific study, but H'town does have some factors that may stifle sports attendance:

    1. Bad traffic: Once you've made it home, do you really want to go back out?

    2. Ethnic diversity: World Soccer anyone?

    3. Transient population: When "our" team comes to town, we will go to the game.

    4. JVG: Is there anyone in the world with less charisma?

Actually, right now, the arena looks pretty full to me. It's at least way better than normal.

Those seats are empty because you can thank the corporate people who buy those seats off and never come to the games. I don't know why the hell they couldn't put the Rowdies there instead. The place would be rockin'!
