I wait for Lord of the Rings in Decenmber. It wont possibly be as good as the book, but if its anywhere close, I can make it through a crappy summer season. RM95, any preview thoughts on that one.

You're right, Roxran... it's been a *horrible* summer for movies. I hadn't even noticed. Geez... the best movie I've seen so far was a kids movie... Shrek.

Why was 1993 such a bad summer?

Personally, I enjoyed Jurassic Park, The Firm, The Fugitive, In The Line of Fire, Manhattan Murder Mystery and Rising Sun. I also enjoyed Dave. Last Action Hero wasn't any good, of course. Another Stakeout wasn't great (though entertaining enough to not want to poke my eyeballs out during the movie). And while I didn't see it, I understand that many people enjoyed Cliffhanger. I even have a friend who enjoyed Rookie of the Year (and for a kids movie, it wasn't bad).It wasn't my thing, but people seemed to enjoy What's Love Got to Do With It, as well.

Of course, I also don't know how we can write off this summer when it is only mid-June.

So far, we've had two good kids movies (Shrek and Spy Kids), we've got A.I. coming up (not my cup of tea, but people might like it), Osmosis Jones looks good to me. I've got The Heist, American Pie 2 and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back on my August list with Curse of the Jade Scorpion as another August possibility. No telling what POTA, Jurassic Park 3 and Rush Hour 2 will be like, but they could well be good. I'm looking forward to Legally Blonde, The Score and even possibly America's Sweethearts in July, and Scary Movie 2 could go either way.

So, with so much of the summer yet to go, I'm not willing to call it a failure yet.

1993 was so bad for me because they made one of the most disappointing movies ever...Just to let you know, I consider Alien and Aliens to be in my top five or six most enjoyable movies of all time....and let's just say the third one was such a dropoff I was almost crying because I was so pissed about the letdown...
This one movie ruined the whole summer for me.

So, Alien 3 was so bad that it not only ruined the summer it was released (1992), but it ruined the next summer, as well?

At least there will be a new Eddie Murphy movie this summer, Dr. Dolittle 2. [IMG]

I thought Tomb Raider was ok (B), but in general, this summer has been crapola. John Singleston's movie may be interesting. Boyz in the Hood is one of my top 10 ever.

The only movie I'll be seeing this summer is A.I. From what I've heard, it's remarkable . . .

Isn't AI just a bigger budget version of Bicentennial man? Same concepts really.

I don't think AI will be anything like Bicentennial Man aside from the fact that both dealt with androids.

I'm really interested in this movie because it's the brainchild of Stanley Kubrick.

I'm also looking forward to Baby Boy because I'm a fan of Singleton's work. Higher Learning was also a very good movie he did.

When I saw the posters they looked alright, and when I noticed that Haley Osment was in it, I figured it had to be good. This kid is an unbelievable talent, and I'd be willing to see any movie starring him.

AI is going to be big, much like the Matrix,IMO.

If you seen the trailor its not just about a boy robot, this movie will have huge special effects an lots of action.

There are a number of different previews out now of AI and it sounds like some of you have only seen the 1st released one,if you watch the newly released one you can see what im talking about.

I was wondering if there was anyone that knows when the Matrix 2 is going to come out because Im already hearing talks of part 3?

I'm really lookng forward to seeing Final Fantasy. The animation looks awesome, hell, even revolutionary.

Cats and Dogs looks like it'll be a fun movie too.

Part 2 comes out next year. They shot both movies (2&3) concurrently so I guess that means part 3 will come out in 2003.
