With our boy CC gone let's look at the candidates for worst GM in the three major sports. NBA-Zeke NFL-Millen MLB-Purpura Zeke has the worst salery cap situation in the history of sports. Millen drafts a reciver every year in the first round Purpura is a slob who can't form a sentance with plausible english, and why he has not been on the job for long he is the laughing stock of all of baseball for the deal he made yesterday.
I took Millen because it is easier to get out of NFL cap hell than in basketball, that being said Zeke is horrible and Purpura is on his way to becoming a running joke.
Charlie Casserly. "It's a decision that took us a lot of time to make, but at the end of the day we felt this was the best player for our football team," Texans General Manager Charley Casserly said at a news conference. "Both players, Reggie Bush and Mario Williams, I think are going to be great pros. But we made the decision to go with defense."
Purpura is only bad when you compare him to Hunsicker and is certainly not the worst GM in all of MLB. Mike Flanagan (Peter Angelos's puppet) is the worst by a landslide.
Oh please, think what you will of the first pick, but the rest of the Texans' picks were excellent. Ryans is DROY, Daniels has become a go-to guy on 3rd down, and Spencer and Winston are going to be solid linemen. Casserly was far, far worse than Kubiak.
Millen has longevity. How he was able to get a contract extension after leading the Lions to the worst 4 year record in their history is truly amazing. But the lasting damage done by Zeke to the Knicks franchise is off the charts. The Lions can fire Millen and turn it around next year. The Knicks will need at least 2 more years. Like every single NFL team, the Lions make a profit and can only spend so much money no matter how stupid their management is. Zeke has pumped the equivalent of Ft. Knox out of the Knicks treasury.
you seem like a nice guy. but you have no idea what you're talking about here. i can assure you he is not the laughing stock of all of baseball.
Bah. I'm not a huge fan of the moves the Astros have made this off-season, but there are a dozen baseball GM's worse than Purpura.
yea, i don't get the Pupura hate either. he does nothing, he sux. he does something, he sux, even though the season hasn't even played out yet. lose, lose.
I don't know about that. one of my friends is a MLB GM and I asked him about the deal and he said that it was a little lopsided in CR's favor. He said that basically we have a young, proven pitcher and gave up a slightly above average leadoff man and two unprovens (with JH really being the only one with real MLB potential) Take it for what it's worth, but it is a GM's response.
When making posts decrying someone's lack of "plausible english" skills, it's generally a good idea to use "plausible english" yourself. Otherwise, you look about as dumb as a sack of hammers. "Plausible english" is in itself a case of you using "unplausible english". "Proper english" is the phrase you were looking for.
Purpura is not even close to being the worst GM in baseball... but oh wait, that's right he's a laughingstock because (insert fat joke here). Such a tired and needless jab. In any case calling Pupura a joke because of the deal he made yesterday is likened to saying Carrol Dawson is the worst GM in basketball for the moves he made two seasons ago that brought Wesley and Jon Barry to town, but then after the season he was being hailed as GM of the year. Truth is, there is no way to tell what will happend with this deal, but whatever happens it had to be made. Zeke hands down. For a multitude of reasons including but not limited to the belief that Marbury and Francis could ever coexist.
