In my opinion I would shudder every time Chris Dudley stepped to the free throw line. Anthony Mason was a close second.
Man, I was watching ESPN Classic or NBATV and I saw this one guy shoot free throws underhanded. Does anyone know who that might be or of anyone else in the NBA that did that?
Chris Dudley is one, but who can forget Anthony Mason's one handed "guiding" technique? Crazy thing is that he wasn't a bad free-throw shooter.
Didn't Wilt also try that for a few years? And yes, Barry was the man... still has one of the highest FT percentages.
Bo Outlaw's is pretty bad. Funny thing is, it looks better than his regular jumpshot. Ben Wallace's shot is all wrist. He doesn't even bend his knees.
Anyone remember Mario Bennett of the Suns airballing four consecutive free throws against the Rockets back in '96? Classic.
Yeah, Wilt tried it; Shaq should try it. I remember when Barry, Murphy, and Mike Newlin was Rockets starters and, I think, they all shot 90%+.... Hal Greer (with Wilt in Phillly) used to actually shoot jump shots from the FT line. He was pretty good.
Aside from the actual free throw shooting form I think Rip Hamilton has one of the more awkward sequences before his free throws. He always bounces the ball to the side before shooting.
