Okay, I had asked earlier this past week what were the greatest CDs that you owned. Now, I ask the converse of this question: what are or were the worst CDs that you owned or still own at one time? For me, it would have to be a tie between "Spice World" by the Spice Girls and "Middle of Nowhere" by Hanson. Mercifully, I got rid of both by selling them to a used CD store. This was back in the day when I was a sucker to buy anything that sounded catchy and Wannabe and Mmmbop were pretty damn catchy. Thank God for "Play" by Moby...my musical taste is so different now than what it was. I still have some clunkers but those were the worst ones. Honorable mention to Jessica Simpson's "Sweet Kisses", Barry Manilow's "Greatest Hits, Vol 3" (I got it for one song - a Jim Steinman song), and a god-awful re-mix album of Jody Watley hits which I think I threw away. I got a better version that is infinitely superior in every way.
I have to go back to my "records." Johnny Whittaker sings the songs of Sigmund & the Sea Monster - nothing else comes close
Hanson arent great, but I really think they get a bad rap considering the boy bands of today. Hanson at least wrote all of their songs and played all of their instruments, which isn't something that BSB & Co can say..... My worst CD is probably.... MC Hammer - Please Hammer Don't Hurt 'Em
I'm sure I've already sold the worst CD I ever bought. I don't buy everything that "sounds catchy", but that is predominantly the type of music I enjoy-- catchy, hard edged rock-n-roll. If I want an education, I'll go read a book. I don't need my music to intellectually stimulate me. Heck, if I wanted everything I come in contact with to "challenge" me, I wouldn't watch sports, wouldn't go see movies, wouldn't watch funny tv shows, wouldn't do a lot of things.
My worst was probably Vanilla Ice. Don't remember the name of the album, and looking it up would require entirely too much effort .
I agree that you need to do things that don't always challenge you, and I really don't care about being challenged by any of the other things that you are talking about. However, with music it's a different story. In my opinion, you get more enjoyment and pleasure out of listening to something that always sounds fresh and gives you something new every time you spin it. An example is "Kid A" by Radiohead. I listened to it for like the 6th time the other day, but the first time with headphones, and I heard stuff that I have never heard before. Artists like Radiohead, Aphex Twin, Massive Attack, The Orb, etc. are unbelievable artists because they can do this. Not wanting to pick on any artist in particular, but can anyone honestly say that listening to a Britney Spears CD or an 'N Sync Cd sounds any fresher the 4th or 5th time compared to the first? Catchy music to me is basically pop music or top 40 music. It still is great and fun to listen to in a lot of situations, but I want substenance to my music, and I'm afraid that the stuff out there today on pop radio does not offer it.
I assume this means what would people consider your worst album, not what you personally don't like so for me it would be: Aquarium - Aqua (it has that song "Barbie Girl") note: I don't own "to the extreme" nor could I name a second song off of it, but in it's day (3rd grade for me) "Ice Ice Baby" was a seriously kick ass song so lets not go putting it on worst album of all time thingies, you understand. I am actually surprised we got to listen to it in school sometimes considering he says "damn" and talks about gunshots and stuff.
The New Live CD is complete GARBAGE, and a waste of money. Of all time I would have to say: Load by Metallica
