    Here's the scenario that I played out with the Rockets still continuing to struggle while the Jazz and Nuggets playing their best.

    Rockets: (42-34) 6 games left
    @Golden State L, 42-35
    @LA. Clippers W, 43-35
    Denver W, 44-35
    @Utah L, 44-36
    @Seattle L, 44-37
    Dallas L, 44-38

    Jazz: (41-37) 4 games left
    @Dallas W, 42-37
    Houston W, 43-37
    @Minnesota L, 43-38
    Phoenix W, 44-38

    Nuggets: (40-37) 5 games left
    @Phoenix W, 41-37
    Houston L, 41-38
    Portland W, 42-38
    Sacramento W, 43-38
    @ San Antonio L, 43-39

    Trailblazer: (39-37) 6 games left
    @LA. Lakers L, 39-38
    Golden State W, 40-38
    @San Antonio L, 40-39
    @Denver L, 40-40
    San Antonio W, 41-40
    LA. Lakers W, 42-40

    In conclusion the last 3 playoff spots are:

    6. Memphis or Dallas
    7. Utah Jazz (44-38) tie-breaker
    8. Houston Rockets (44-38)

    9. Denver Nuggets (43-39)
    10. Portland Traiblazer (42-40)

    I'm making it hard on the Rockets here and give them the benefit of the doubt that they still could make it. If they manage to do worse than this, then they don't deserve to be in the playoff and the season is a complete failure. I hope it doesn't need to come to this but its possible, what do you guys think?

    If the rockets win one of the games verse the jazz and nuggets, we're in. Otherwise, it is up in the air.

    It doen't look like its that easy for the Rockets , They havn't played Team Basketball in FIVE seasons and now they don't even play defence.

    seriously though; might of well think of this season as a waste; we are only one game ahead of utah in win column. that has to say something.

    Actually the Rockets are 3 games in the loss column ahead of Utah and that is the important thing. Losses can't be made up. Thus, a team that is 42-34 controls their own destiny against a team that is 42-37. Bottomline, if the Rockets win at the Clippers tomorrow and then hold serve at home against Denver the Rockets are in. If they win those 2 games then Utah and Portland and Denver would have to run the table to have the same record then the Rockets. Houston has the tiebreaker against Portland, and could have the tie breaker against Utah with a win. They may have the tiebreaker against all the teams, who knows. Either way, you can't throw games away against teams like Golden State with the tough schedule the Rockets have.

    It'd be awesome if the Rockets finished 44-38 and so did the Jazz. Utah owns the tie-breaker if the Rockets and Jazz split their season (Utah has a better over-all conference record). That means the Jazz would get the 7th seed! :D

    Be careful what you wish for. San Antonio is only one game behind Minnesota. If Utah gets the #7 seed and San Antonio beats out Minnesota for the division title it'll be Utah and San Antonio in the first round.

    Nah, after tonight and the way Portland played with INTENSE heart(something the Rockets are allergic to now-a-days), I think the Rockets worse case scenario is 10th still.:(

    I don't care WHO the Jazz play. I'm just hoping they get into the playoffs. I know Utah doesn't stand much of ANY chance of getting out of the first round, but it'd still be fun to get into the playoffs and defy all odds.

    I hope Utah never makes the playoffs again. Just because Malone and Stockton have retired doesn't mean I like the Jazz now...
