Since they fire coaches for having the wrong colored suit, this one should be easy. Is there a coach with a longer tenure that has done less than Lawrence Frank?
Dunlevy wasn't a particularly good player, coach or GM, yet he's managed to spend decades in the NBA. On some level, you have to admire that.
Jerry Sloan 24 years of coaching 0 championships . He actually is better then a lot of coaches, but I wanted to point it out because the Jazz suck.
Can't believe you'd call out Lawrence Frank like that when Dunleavy is still around. Good to see other folks on here know their stuff.
This league turns over coaches so quickly that it's very rare to see a truly bad coach holding on to his job. Lots of people mention Dunleavy, who would have been fired if he didn't have a massive contract. But think back over his tenure, has he really been that horrible?
Agree, The trend is if the coach does not produce immediately they get the pink slip. Before, Teams would gamble on coaches for 2 to 3 years before deciding. There is also the factor wherein players especially the " stars " having a say in the faith of a coach.
Jerry Sloan..... mvp's, scoring champs, assist leaders, steal leaders......24 years........... ZERO COY or championships
Can we define what " worse" coach means? If it is not winning a title then almost all coaches should be included. Is it their winning percentage? then Sloan should not be included.
Ok, I know we are suppose to hate anything Jazz related but how do you discredit being the 4th all-time NBA coach in wins, having a .603 winning all-time winning percentage, having 50 plus win seasons 12x, leading his teams to the playoffs 19x, leading his teams to the WCF 6x, to the finals 2x...
Frank has had pretty much 3 all stars to work with most of his time and they had the worse winning % of games decided by 3 pts or less. Not to mention the multiple sub .500 playoff appearences in the east. At least dunleavy had to build something whereas frank had a ready made team and it got worse. If thorn had to do it again,he wouldve kept scott.
All in Utah. Its as hard as winning in Canada. Most players just don't want to go there. Sloan is a great coach.
