Tell us about something you know or learned that we might find astounding...

Did you know that a spider will/can actually take down one of her webs and move it?

My wife came home with the kids the other evening/night and her car headlights shone on a spider and a small but intricate web. She and the girls were just appreciating it's beauty and complexity when lo and behold the spider detached the pinnings and dragged the web off with her... presumably to another location outside of the range of headlights.

Who would have thought that possible?

You guys were appreciating the beauty and complexity of one pissed off spider. If 2 50-foot halogens blasted on you, you might want to move your residence as well.

I broke down one night out in the Sam Houston National Forest where I've lived for the last two years.

I was walking home (about three miles) in the rain through the middle of the forest when I saw something glowing on the ground. I bent down to pick it up, thinking it was some kind of electronic device, when the light went out. I kept walking when I noticed there were lots of these. After several nights of checking these out at three in the morning I finally caught one.

After a little research on the web they turned out to be firefly larvae, also known as glow worms. They look like little tape worms but the end of them lights up like a lightening bug. Amazing little guys.

They are also quite useful if you are stuck in a cave because Vin Diesel deserted you to go get the starship and take off without you, leaving you for the evil creatures with the giant heads.

I saw a little girl, around 3-4ish, one day get her fingers slammed the hell out of a car door one day and she just cried about it for a few minutes and when you see her hand, it's like nothing happened.

About last month I got my finger slammed the hell out of a door and it has never looked the same.

I realized that little kids are superhuman beings and they have that wolverine super healing powers. Oh and they can really bend.
