I usually drink an MRP mixed with high protien milk about an hour before I work out. Or if I'm feeling full, I'll just drink a protein shake and some Gatorade. You need good protein and good carbs in your system before you work out.

I always thought that you should never work out on a full stomach, because you're basically working off the food you just ate. If you're trying to build muscle mass, it might be different...

a lot of "bread-y" foods. only breakfast and lunch. sandwiches, stuff that will fill you up. nothing to eat at least two and a half hours beforehand.

one thing not to do is espresso before working out. playing in the basketball league with the stalkers, i made the mistake of doing a doppio before a couple of games. you get to feeling really, really hot. almost like your getting ready to pass out or something. then you start sweating like crazy and you feel your heart beating more than you feel anything else on your body. never again.

I pig out before i work out. I usually wait about 45 minutes to an hour before I work out. I eat all sorts of stuff too, ususally high protein high carb meal.

But when I jog, I gotta wait like 3 hours after I eat or else I'll cramp. Sometimes more depending on how much I ate.

Depends on what you're trying to do. If you're trying to build muscle, then you're right. But if you're trying to firm up, it may be good to do it.

I was on the Body For Life plan for a while and it encouraged working out first thing in the morning before breakfast because you burn more calories. Then you were supposed to wait an hour after you workout before you eat.

4-5 hard-boiled eggs, sans the yolk. Or macaroni with rotel.

I hung out with two bodybuilders in college and this is pretty much all they'd eat.

I tried to run before eating. . . after a mile
my stomach felt like the walls were touching.
I felt incredibly weak and barely made it home.

Decided I needed at least a little something in there

I usually eat a pack of crackers around 9 in the morning and then work out at 11:30. I think if you eat something an hour before working out, you still have too much lactic acid inside of you. But I could be wrong about that. I just know that I always get better workouts when I go 2 and a half hours instead of like an hour.

Thats exactly how i feel. I argue all the time with my friends about running or working out before eating. I feel like i'm dying or somalian. I have to have some food in me before i work out.

I usually eat some lean protein and some fruit/veggies or a complex carb like brown rice.

Some good advice from Gregg Avedon:

Eat carbs before you work out and protein afterwards.

I eat something usually during a workout for quick energy. Sometimes it just some energy bar ( like a few bites) , or sometimes for an ultra high energy boost like a very small piece of shockingly sour candy.

Dude, I so want to work out. I weigh 130 lbs. I hate getting beat up when I play basketball. My target weight is around 145, or 150.

I want to put muscle mass on my arms, and upper body, chest, and back. My legs, i'm not to worried about.

I think I can run forever, atleast I know I can walk forever.

Infact, today, I walked from Buffalo Wild Wings in Midtown over to the Court House on Lubbock today in maybe less than 30 minutes. It could have been faster if there were no idiot drivers.

When I do some type of activity, I like to eat something or else I feel dizzy and light headed. Something light, though, and not too heavy.

After work, I'll usually throw down a granola or nutrigrain bar along with a multi-vitamin before heading to the gym.
