my god i cannot recall a day as boring as the one today. i caught up on all my things on my "to-do" list and there is nothing to do to fill the time. Usually my boss and I just talk the time away, but he is out sick today. On top of that the next 4 people who I like to talk to at work are out sick or its their off day. I've been struggling to know what to do to fill my day...I was thinking just to F it and go home myself but i am obligated to stay until 5pm (one of us my boss or I have to be here for "emergency reasons" good ol IT) i've gone and read like two pages of threads in the D&D to pass the time, off course everything that wasnt a "doom and gloom" in the GARM and even all the Dwight Howard threads in the Dish. I've gone to all my other SFW websites and I am through with them. I am just running out of things to do.

what do you guys do at work when extremely bored?

If you are the top IT guy around, why are you limiting yourself to SFW websites? :)

Almost time to go home...yeah i can problem is my office really my computer faces a large window that shows out to the production floor, the way the office is set up i cant really change the orientation of the monitor. it kind of sucks. i wouldnt really care to watch p*rn at work, but its a lot of monkey see monkey do around here.

considering i am around the same age as a lot of the caller monkeys they see me on youtube they complain they cant go on it and the ceo gets a bit pissy...not so much that my boss and i are looking at non work related things (he couldn't care less about what we do because he knows that we are really productive otherwise) but that the caller monkeys see us. CF is a godsend since ppl cant see what it is exactly from the window thats why i use the original background. heck in the time it took me to write this, its time to go home!

It's tough when you're bored and get tired of web surfing. lol. Umm...I actually start making noises...kind of like I'm going to say ***** with just the "shhhh...". Other noises are like "dangit". Whenever I read a bonehead response to an e-mail from a co-worker, I usually say "dang stupid people". lol. My co-workers have to listen to it. lol. I also toss my keyboard a little and hit my desk. Oh...well...I really only do that when something perturbs me in work mode...like a program hangs or the computer slows to a crawl. Losing connections to network servers really gets me ticked.

But, my biggest thing when I'm bored, is tossing the pen in the air like a drum stick. That's my signature "bored out of my gore" move. I usually try to see how high I can toss it without hitting the ceiling. Sometimes I just hit the ceiling out of spite to see where the pen will projectile off to. I also get reckless at my tossing angles and have had a few land in the vicinity of the co-workers. lol. I'm pretty much wishing I were Neil Peart of Rush at those moments...and not stuck in some open floor plan cubicle surrounded by a bunch of nerds and nerdspeak.

This whole post reminds me of George Costanza aka if you act annoyed, people think you are busy, heh.

As for me - I am pretty much bored every day with my job. I usually read the BBS, espn, check my email, read wikipedia, allmusic, and the boston globe. I also read poetry and listen to the iPod. And then I make the rounds to talk to various people who are just as bored as I am.

There are hardly days that I get bored because I always have stuff to do...but when I'm bored (like right now), I get on BBS and post. Surf the net and talk to my co-workers on IM.

When I'm bored, I doodle, I rearrange the crap on my desk, or I get up and walk around and talk to everyone I like.

I haven't done that in.... 20 minutes. Dang. What a shame.

Besides posting on Clutchfans A LOT, I listen to Phil Hendrie, talk to my fiancée on the phone at school (when one of her kiddies is bad, she’ll call me and I’ll talk to him pretending to be Santa Clause and tell him to say he’s sorry or I won’t come to his house this year :D ), email my buddy at Reliant (in code so no one will know who we’re talking smack about), take a walk around the complex and scope out the women, or just drink lots of coffee and try to pinch off a loaf.

I also like to whistle a lot. I know my co-workers LOVE it when I do that...

My new trick is to put my posts on an existing Word document, then quickly paste it on the bbs. That way, it looks like I’m working when I’m really posting. I just have to remember to NOT save the document when I close it down…….

pure genius!!! Though I just don't give a $#!+ about who sees me posting on the BBS. Every last one of these suckers are Spurs or Mavs fans, so they would never know what to do with a Rox site, let alone a Rox BBS!
