A 'friend of a friends friend' (literally) who I talked to on Sunday does some scouting work in basketball here (Australia) and looks at the international players closely (unlike the US...we put years of preparation into tournaments because we have to etc) said that the Spaniard PAU is, quote, "outstanding"... He said the guy has superb three point range...and at 7'1, that's a rare thing...the mismatches he makes are incomparable for his position...and he feels this guy WILL be an NBA star within two years...he said the guy is a genuine SF...so his slender frame isn't a concern (as opposed to some reports saying PF is his best position) Interestingly, he also said that Wang (?) the 7'6 Chinese guy who'll come out next year isn't all that special (our national team just beat them...and we were without most of our top centers) and that he is WAY too frail for the NBA... I also asked him if he knows of Mirsad Turkan...and he said that was one of the biggest shocks he'd ever seen when Houston picked him as Turkan wasn't THE main guy on his club or league or national side...merely just a good player...as opposed to Nowitzki and Pau who are / were MVP type players in their respective leagues... ------------------

It's posible that Gasol will play next year in NBA, even if he is drafted below 5 or 6 (that had been said the lower picks that would make him play next year). Why? Well, it's only my opinion, but consider two facts: 1. A member of Barcelona's club will travel with him to New York 2. Gasol had said that the number in he will be selected determinates if he play next season in NBA, but dhe doesn't want to say what's that number I think that the buyout could be negotiated in draft day, depending the position he will be selected. Finally; two more consderations: 1. He's really crazy for play in NBA, he thinks (I too) that his game will improve better and faster in NBA. Stay one more year in Europe would be a year lost 2. His team has asumed that Gasol will be gone, if not this year, next year. But this year they can receive some money in exchange, and perhaps some future considerations (If Gasol returns to Europe, he would have to play in Barcelona). A deal could be better for the player and the team

If only they could make the right decisions... ------------------ Go Rockets Go!
