JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Allen Iverson, LeBron James and Amare Stoudemire of the U.S. Olympic team were suspended from Saturday's exhibition game against Puerto Rico for missing a team meeting.

The suspensions left the U.S. team with only nine players. One of them, center Emeka Okafor, was hobbled all week with an injured ankle.

Iverson and James were both listed as guards, which left the Americans with only two more listed guards, Stephon Marbury and Dwyane Wade.

Head coach Larry Brown made the decision on the suspensions, adding another interesting twist to his relationship with Iverson. Iverson played for Brown for six seasons in Philadelphia. Brown left after the 2003 season, in large part because the two never fully got along. Earlier this week, both men said they had patched up their once-fractured relationship.

The three suspended players watched the game from the end of the bench. The exhibition game closed out a week of training for the team, which heads to Europe to continue preparations for the Olympics.

When the suspensions were announced over the public-address system to the sellout crowd in Jacksonville, the fans booed, and Brown shot a nasty look over to the press table, clearly upset the suspensions were announced to the fans.

Its funny how every one took their shots at Steve not making the team because of his lack of maturity.

How is that funny? Most people thought Francis wasn't a good fit for the team because of his playing style and inability to make others better.

The question isn't if Marbury is great at that .... it's is he better than Steve? Atleast from an assist standpoint, Marbury creates more than Steve.

Steve isn't a great "point" guard ... but it was to a stage, with so many turning the USA down, that he should have been given an invite. I think Stu Jackson had a lot to say about it.

Overly draconian punishments for a meaningless game. . .

Way to lay down the law.

I'm glad something like this happened to Amare and Lebron. They need to deal with a great coach who doesn't take crap from anyone, including their co-captain.

We have no idea of what causes the suspension, so don't jump to your conclusion too early.

IMO, Larry is a great coach, and NBA stars usually have way too much authority.

God, you Larry Brown apologists are sickening.

I mean, look at this guy. He's evil! It's obvious what he's thinking just by looking at him:

"I wonder if anyone will ever find the body I hid under the court. If someone does, then I'll have to kill two people, plus suspend a sh*tload of players because I'm pissed."

"Hey! I'm Larry Brown b*tch! I'm crazy! I'll eat your childern motherf*cker! YOUR CHILDREN!"

"It's very simple Allen. If you want to see your family again, you'll do whatever I say. Capice? Now what's your answer to that?"

"God, not the anthem again. I hate this country so damn much..."

See? SOLID, IRREFUTABLE, PROOF that the man is up to no good. There's just no such thing as jumping to conclusions with evil people. They're evil!!
