So , I just won two tix to see Tom Petty tomorrow night on 610, and it got me wondering what some of you guys may have won on the radio before...
nothing..... but i hear tom petty's been rocking this tour, so have a good time... should be a blast.
$93 from 93Q back when it was the Q-Zoo with the Tookie Bird! From 610 I won tickets to a Rice/GA Tech baseball game and later I won a $50 gift certificate to Truluck's and a free car wash at Bubbles.
I won tickets to two Guns N Roses shows. They played two nights at the Summit with Soundgarden as the opening act. The first night we had 4th row and the second night was near the back. Great shows. I've won a few gift certificates as well (Saltgrass & Landry's).
Many years ago, I won a cassette tape from 97.9. I don't remember who the tape was for. When I went into the office, The Ghetto Boys were sitting there waiting to go in the back. I was a very dorky 12 year old kid, but they were real cool and gave me an autographed album cover. I've also won some random stuff from stations here in Austin...
I won tickets to go see WAR at Rockefellers in 1997 off of KPFT. I got a table in the front row. I took my future wife and it was a good show. Rudy T was there, getting down! I got him to sign my WAR ticket. It was only a couple of days after we lost to the Jazz in the WCF and people were still giving him a lot of love. Good times...
Rockets Tickets A few TShirts Watch from Kleins Tickets to Judas Priest Probably more stuff from the 610 events around town, but I don't remember. It's been a while since I went to one of them (7+ months)
I won one thing ever. It was from 93.7 in Austin. It was "Exit the Dragon" by Urge Overkill. I think it was on cassette.
I got a free watch from Kleins as well....It was the crappiest piece of crap I have ever seen....This was at least 6 years ago, and I still think I spent more on a return trip there from Katy (gas) than the watch was worth!
Signed Jef Buckley Grace album along with an acoustic in studio concert for 30 fans. Something I'll never forget. He made the peoples cry. Tickets to a 107.5 Christmas bash at some smallish club on the north side of town. Stabbing Westward and a whole bunch of others bands played. REAL good time. Pit tickets to Depeche Mode. Tenth row to the Cure. Backstage for Nitzer Ebb. Tickets for Kula Shaker, meet and greet with Red Flag before a club concert around '91. Won way too many in the nineties to remember. I stayed up late a lot and it was way too easy to get through for contests at 3 am. Oh, and Front row tickets to Limp Biskit. Gave 'em away. I swear it. Numerous gift certificates. Movie tickets, some of your mother's, etc...
Clutch gave me tickets to "Year of the Yao" for my son and I. Yeah Im a winner............I am someone! never on the radio though
That's cool! They seem like really cool guys. They really stood out in a sea of flannel back in the grunge days.
I won two tickets to an amusement park. I'm using them next Thursday. My sister once won the KILT social security number game....if anyone still remembers that. I think it was like 1,000 bucks.
I won some Cubs minor league game tix. I forgot the name of the team but it was a AA or AAA team. I won some Anne Murray tix that I traded for some Kenny Rogers tix. Life is a little slower and less exciting in Des Moines.
Iowa Cubs perhaps? I went to Hairy Mary's in Des Moines all the time. I gave away tix to shows there weekly. (That was the closest venue to my college)
^ Yes - that was it - Iowa Cubs. Paul Splittorff was the answer to the question they asked - I'm not sure what the question was though. It's been a few miles since then.
