    Women 'grumpier than men'

Women are grumpier than men in the morning, according to a new survey.

The study found women were grumpier than men when they wake up - and stay in a bad mood for longer.

Thirteen per cent of women are in a bad mood for up to four hours after waking, compared to a tenth of men, according to the study by the Sleep Council.

Spokeswoman Jessica Alexander said: "Many more men than women claim to get a good seven nights sleep a week, so perhaps it is not surprising that more women than men get out of bed on the wrong side."

Forty per cent of people studied blamed their bad mood on a disturbed night, while 24% point to stress and worry.

Londoners are the grumpiest, but only seven per cent of people in the North East and Yorkshire get seven nights of good sleep.

The Sleep Council questioned 2,105 adults for the study.

    11:00 pm
    "Let's DO IT."
"Go to sleep, please. I am tired... I want to do NOTHING tonight..."

    12:30 a.m.
    "Give me some... please?"
"Ugh. Didn't I tell you to go to sleep?!?!"

    2:00 a.m.
"So... can we ... you know... do it...?"
"GO. TO. SLEEP. I swear I am going to slap you."

    4:00 a.m.
    [toilet flusing sounds]
    "I'm done."
"You had to wake me up for that?"

Yeah, they're grumpier when they wake up. :D

It's totally true!!! Because we have to do everything in the morning (ie. get kids up and deal with their grumpy butts, pack lunches, get them dressed etc.) so we have the right to be grumpy! ;) GRANTED-- I know it's not like that in every house. But it is in MINE.... and I would bet in a majority of those households that participated in that survey. It also probably has alot to do with the survey done recently about working moms getting no sleep!!!!!!!!!! I must still be grumpy.

Aren't women more honest about their feelings? Could just be a case of subconscious machismo on the part of the male surveyees.

Bummer for you. I woke my oldest up for school this morning, made breakfast for her and me, made a lunch for both of us all the while watching two year old too. During this time my wife slept an additional hour before I woke her to take care of the youngest after I left to take the oldest to school and for me to head off to work. Men can do a lot of things if they choose to.

Why do I usually let my wife sleep? Because she is too damn grumpy to deal with in the morning. I'd rather do everything myself and bail as quickly as possible before there is too much conversation in the morning.

I'm sure some women are grumpier then others in the morning just like some women have bigger breast then others.

I do all that stuff at my house. I even have to wake my grumpy ass wife up and get her to work on time getting up an hour early myself to make sure it happens.

I think I'm getting ripped off.

Who isn't grumpy in the morning. Most of the time, you just want to go back to sleep. This school year I have been getting my 7-8 hours each night, so I've never really been very grumpy in the morning. That and I don't have school til 10:30 every day...heh. I'm sure once I get a full-time job and have kids, things will be much different...not really anxious for kiddos in the near future, lol.
