1) I don't find the concept of beating women to be in any way funny 2) Is it legal to beat your wife in Iran? That's unbelievable. Those people are living in the stone age.
I can't imagine living with that kind of mindset. It's still common in some cultures, though. Where was it - somewhere in Africa - we had that story that came on the board a few weeks ago. The guy got "Bobbittized". Apparently they think all real men beat their wives in that culture. So you have nice guys forcing themselves to beat their wives anyway.
Any man who lays a hand on his wife, girl friend or any woman in anger is not a man. I never have understood this hurt the one you love mindset.
Here's the whole article (it's short) so clearly it's not legal. But I wonder if they did anything besides telling him not to do it. They should hire one of those ostensibly female American Gladiators to drag him out into the street and publicly beat the crap out of him every time he does it. that or just "bobbitize" him, as Isabel said. Make an example of this punk.
Shouldn't the title read, Woman says please beat me once a week. And when I first read it, I thought it was some weird S&M thing.
I saw this earlier, and seriously, this guy should be locked up and be beat every week. Then be put thru the abu gharib torture routine. Idiiots like these give their country and their people a bad name.
it's funny how the iranians just 'banned' the guy from beating his wife and didn't actually punish the guy.
Uhm.....there was a case. And a trial. And a verdict. The lapse seemed to occur at the sentencing phase. But it's all good--because "If I do not beat her, she will not be scared enough to obey me."
***OK first of pls dont think this is some religious way of thinking, im trying to do this from a Law point of view*** RIght, but the case was just to stop him from beating her Everyday, she never wanted to punish him for even doing that, she just wanted to reduce the beatings, correct. While it sounds insane, she doesnt want her husband to be punished, so as long as the beatings are "reduced" or stopped, she would be happy.... right?
Sometimes the government has to step in and punish someone more than just stopping them from beating their wife so often - she may be happy, but she's been conditioned with repeated beatings to believe it's her fault she get's beat - so she's happy - but not in her right mind.
i know iran is not america but in america they don't let you decide if you want to press charges or not. the state makes the decision to press charges and pursue the case because of the irrationality of people in abusive relationships. further, let's say instead of your wife cutting you with a knife everyday you just beg the courts to make her only do it once a week...would you be happy? no one is happy being beaten by the one they love.
