What? She was fired for eating Pork? Well, I guess the Muslim and Jewish faiths can agree on something at least. Pork is 'unclean' I hope she forces this company out of business. DD
if you go by the old testament, then yeh, this is pretty straightforward. even studying through the new testament there are signs that pig is unclean...as in jesus sending hundreds of pigs over a cliff and stuff like that. i agree that it is very unhealthy to eat "unclean" meat which is why i go by the dietary principles set out in levit 11...however, it is simply wrong to try and force others to abide by your set of rules when it comes to somethin like this.
What a freaking joke! I don't agree with the rules that the company set. However, does anybody believe that BLT was planned? How long did it take her to file a lawsuit?
By the way, this is all I could find about food in Deuteronomy 11: "you shall eat and be full" (11:15). I'm pretty sure it's Leviticus 11.
haha. no...but serious, i don't think it's a big deal as in go to heaven or not...but as i said in my earlier post...i take it for the health factor, i prob could take it further and eat no meat, but that would be too much for me to handle...so yeh, i do this cuz i figure it's the healthier lifestyle.
OK...I'll bite. What if the company had been owned by a fundamentalist Christian and the company policy mandated that a Muslim woman wear a cross. She refused and they fired her. Under your definition...no big deal. it's their perogative and she broke company policy. Not a good idea and also not how the law reads.
brings up the whole idea of Dress Codes in general It is ok to infringe on my right to wear what I want as long as it is not for 'religious' reasons? Is that what you are saying? Also. .. . Could someone at Wendy's fire a person for eating McDonalds in the lobby . . . in uniform? Rocket River
Company policy should be spelled out before a new hire is signed on. If they, don't agree with the policies, they should state so which then may cause the employer to rethink the hire. But if they don't speak up, they should agree to keep the policies (assuming they are not illegal). They said no eating pork on Company property and she did. I'm a big pork eater, but I don't fault the Company for firing her. Don't bring your BLT to work.
