    Wolves courting Malone

    CHARLEY WALTERS

The Timberwolves this week are making a serious effort to sign free-agent power forward Karl Malone.

The Wolves plan to have the NBA's most valuable player, Kevin Garnett, fly to Los Angeles with coach Flip Saunders to try to persuade the 6-foot-9, 259-pound future hall of famer and two-time MVP to sign with Minnesota.

The San Antonio Spurs are considered the Wolves' top competition for Malone, who's still seeking an NBA championship ring after 19 seasons.

Another Barkley, trying to get a ring.

I hope he never gets one, because of how dirty he plays.

why don't you like the wolves? I want them te become champion (because the rockets will not be good enough this year, i fear) and if malone plays there they will not win.

Say that again, and please make more sense of what your saying, because I'm having a hard time following you on your comments based on my statements.

    Go Rockets!!

    Sorry:eek:
You said you wanted Malone to play for the wolves. Right?
i do not want the wolves to sign Malone. Because i like the wolves. And i do not like Malone.
I hope that the wolves will become champion this year. (because i think the rockets are not good enough). And if Malone plays for them they wil not become champions, because of the Malone curse.

so i was wondering if you did not like the wolves. Because you want malone to play for them.
do you understand me now? (sorry sometimes my english is very bad, especially when i'm half asleep:D)

It would be a disaster if Malone went to the Spurs and they won a ring. He would make them a lot tougher IMO b/c their sub bigs are really poor--one of their primary weaknesses.

I hope he goes back to LA b/c I know they won't win with him or without him.

I also wouldn't mind if he went to Miami, they will be good but not NBA championship caliber, maybe another heart warming near miss for Karla.

Minny I have mixed feelings about. With Malone I would put them as slight favorites over SA and Detriot (I have these 3 all even know). I'd hate to see Malone win, but at least it would not be with the Spurs or Kobe lead Lakers.

If he went to the Spurs and won a title, it would be the most worthless, shameless title grab of all time. Trying repeatedly to ride someone else's coattails at the end of your career is just weak.

this is smart by the wolves. I surmise that KG basically went to management and said, "Karla made me work too hard in the playoffs". If we want to go deep, we better get him away from the competition.

As much as I can't stand the guy, the place that Karla signs may determine the WCF championship.

I kinda agree with this, assuming it is the Spurs or Wolves. I think the Spurs and Wolves are very close. Karl Malone would be an important veteran for either they could largely save for the playoffs. Not that he is great--but subtract him from 1 team and add him to the other and that could easily the difference.

If he goes to the wolves will he be the backup of kg? if i am malone i would go to the spurs where he can play as the starting forward and be teamed to a proven winner rasho can sub tim at the center spot.

It is Tim's team and Tim would rather play most of his minutes at PF. If Karl goes there it is as a back-up, same deal for Minny.

So, basically, everybody who is interested in Karl Malone is like an oil company who wants to buy the carbuerator design that gets 150 mpg so they can keep it off the market?

Bingo! He is perhaps more valuable to Wolves, Spurs or Lakers by keeping him away from the comp than actually in production for those teams. Further, in the former case (Wolves-Spurs)--they are so evenly matched it very well might be the difference.

Watching tim play i really think that he is a center and i dont know what is the difference between tim playing center or forward bec. he will still be effective regardless of the position, the only difference i see is that if he played pf then rasho is in the floor but if he played center then karl is the one on the floor that is if they signed him.

Let me break it down for you. Duncan doesn't want to guard Shaq. That is the only reason that he would insist on playing the PF position and make the Spurs go after Rasho when they could have been going after Jermaine Freaking Oneal.
