    You ain’t watching Velma or black Shaggy
    This is the entire point you can fake pretend that this stuff is good for entertainment but you know it’s just lazy race swapping for a perceived larger untapped audience

    no Indians are going to watch this , they rather watch Japanese cartoons

    Much less streaming services
    They had to tell stories and stuff

    Which is what modern day woke race swapping writers don’t know how to do

    Its a hard reach to say Jesus was race swapped because he is consistently depicted as a light skinned man. I'm super white complected and I'm a latinx from a country where most people are brownish...

    Well most of us were not gonna watch any Scooby-Doo shows nowadays much less this one regardless. Like I think it might b more understandable for parents to b triggered that the old shows they watched got changed that they don't want their kids to watch it. But a grown a$$ man complaining about how "woke" a cartoon is even when he had no intention to watch, just seems strange to me.

    Personally, I think it's stupid and unnecessary to race swap established characters for the sake of race swapping. I'd understand if a different country was adapting material to their locality.

    That won't make or break whether I consume this media or not, but it already leaves a sour taste in my mouth as I prefer things stick to their source material. Their justification being "just because" instead of a plot-relevant reason signals poor creative writing.

    Of course, they could prove me wrong and actually make good content, but I'll have to wait and hear from others before I give it a try. These pre-judgments already left a questionable feeling. I never cared much for Mindy Kaling's work to begin with.

    On a similar tangent, I always thought the push for characters to be voiced by their own race was stupid, too.

    the only reason i know this show exists is b/c of this thread. i have no plans to watch, but its not because velma is gay or black or whatever the problem is. im just not interested in watching a scooby doo reboot...unless they made scooby trans. then id watch.

    of these LAZY race swapping or in this case, removal of animal, reboots that only serve the purpose of checkbox politics and getting people paid.

    Why can't they make a NEW Character and a NEW universe ? sounds too hard for Hollywood.

    As a guy that frequents comic con with the wife, Velma is the most popular in the series. All the hotties will go as Velma at some point. It is funny seeing peeps freaking out about that but that's the truth: Lesbians, Bi chicks and straight chicks all love them some Velma. Vampirella would be the next popular.
    Scooby and the gang can't be with each other 24/7. I always did wonder what Shaggy did on his spare time like 25 years ago on a sick day from school.
