These are pretty much my thoughts, but my concern is I’ve struggled to find anyone with something positive to say about his time as an interim head coach. Theoretically that could be compensated for to some degree w a strong defensive-minded assistant head coach, but we’ll see. Certainly hoping for the best, and glad it’s not Lucas (low bar) or a generic re-tread (although out of any re-tread, JVG probably had unusual potential upside).
JVG was at the forefront, just before Silas being announced as coach. Are we all just assuming JVG asked for too much $auce on his steak? I am. Although I actually think Silas is the right call. Tillman cheaped his way into making the right choice anyway lol...
To be clear, most of yall are Morey fanboys just salty he's not here ruining this team's reputation anymore. Tilman made could've screwed up the coaching hire and he didn't. Kudos to Tilman
Read on a random website it's 4 years, which is standard for Houston since forever. Can anyone confirm?
Not really, but you're trying to convince the world MDA was responsible for our top rated defense in the post season smh
Amin Elhassan: I’ve talked to some people around Houston. Tilman Fertitta feels very hurt by this. He hired Stephen Silas kind of as an olive branch with the players. He was leaning towards Jeff Van Gundy. They wanted Ty Lue. Ty Lue ends up with the Clippers. They end up with Stephen Silas as kind of the compromise. The players signed off on it and then almost immediately “By the way, trade us.” If that were the case from the beginning, Tilman would have hired the guy he wanted to start with.
I almost feel sorry for Silas stepping into this sh!tstorm as a first time HC. The situation couldn't get much worse .... No Morey , No Harden , PJ likely dealt & Westbrook probably gone eventually too .... He's gonna be left with a G-League roster to compete with.
Shitstorm cause by unaccountable wannabe GM Harden. And for what... still no titles like MJ, Kobe, LBJ. Lesson to all, never give your players control of your organization. Morey's biggest mistake that will tarnish his legacy imo.
Elhassan knows shiet. The guy has been quiet all offseason and now he comes out with this garbage? It doesnt even make any sense.
They talk about the Harden situation in the following video. Amin Elhassan's comments are at the 1:21 mark :
