Gee. Great. More tired stories on his "greatness".

<a href="http://espn.go.com/nba/news/2001/0409/1170648.html">Pollin says his gut tells him MJ returning</a>

BTW, if Michael returns, he's a bald-faced liar for trying to accuse the SI writer of making the story up (of him and Barkley playing for the Wizards next season)

That man, and the entire league, need to just let his playing days go. Yeah, he was a great player. But no, he would most likely not still be winning titles with the bulls if he hadn't retired. And he won't be what he was before if he plays again, he'll only tarnish his reputation.

This does more harm than good. Jordan is a crutch for the rest of the league, instead of vigorously promoting up-and-coming stars we'll see more promotion of Jordan. And when Jordan does leave, the league will still have the problem of unrecognized stars and ratings problems once more.

I don't know what Abe Pollin knows about whether Jordan is coming back.

But I do know that he knows this: Come tomorrow, the Wizards season-ticket office will be doing brisk business for next year's seats.

Which means that he could be telling the truth, or dropping hints to cynically boost his bottom line. Or both.

God, if he wants to play, let him play! I'm so sick of all this tarnishing-image crap. If he can still play ball, then he should play. He won't win anything with Washington anyway...

Let him come back. Who knows, they may win the East with those two (doubt it), but I'd love to see Jordan tarnish his reputation. Michael can't make it as a GM, so why not go back to what he knows.

I'm not sure why Clutch puts the greatness in quotes. There's no questioning MJ's greatness, just to what level that greatness is.

Is Abe Pollin hoping to take MJ's share of the team back? Jordan will have to divest himself of his interest in the team if he wants to play. I don't see that happening.

How about this...MJ comes back...sign Barkley for the league minimum...and sign Dream for the league minimum. Not a bad threesome to get a team going again.

Yep. I can definitely see MJ coming back to play for the minimum and lead a terrible team back to mediocrity. How heroic.

Yee-hoo! David Aldridge said it wasn't going to happen! I can already start bragging to the Karl Malone fans.

Oh, there's one! JuanValdez, how many rings does Karl have?

How many rings will Chucky have next year?

Nice column by Aldridge. I don't always agree with what he says, but I think he captured a lot of our sentiment about Jordan's return, i.e. - media, NBA obsession of.

IMHO, Michael Jordan is the greatest athlete ever to pick up a basketball.

But even I don't know if I would want to see him back next year.

I'd rather see this game evolve with the great young players out there-Kobe, KG, Stevie, and the rookies coming in next season.

And think about it if those three sign for the minimum then they can sign C-Webb for whatever amount they want. Jordan, Barkley, Olajuwon, and Webber. Guaranteed championship
