    Wizards Make Offer For Ginobili

The Washington Wizards have made a trade offer for Manu Ginoibili.

Asked by the Argentine press this week whether he thought he could be traded, he said “impossible” had lost a few letters.

“Today I believe there is a chance it could happen,” Ginobili said.

“People get in trouble when they say never,” Gregg Popovich said Wednesday.

“But Manu Ginobili is someone I cannot envision trading,” Popovich continued. “He has been such a huge part of our heart and soul; people like that are hard to come by. You don't even think about trading somebody like that. I can't imagine a scenario where he would be traded.”

Im guessing it would be a trade involving the 5th pick?

My guess would be Caron Butler + their 1st round pick is the offer.

That would be a total rip off!

Caron alone had a better season then Manu last year. That would be a really good deal for the Spurs.

The difference is that Manu can be a go to guy where Caron is more of a complementary player. In past seasons, with Duncan out of the lineup, Manu has put up Kobe type numbers.

Damn that is one lopsided trade that will propel the Spurs back to the top echelon for the next decade. Manu is great and a fierce competetor but this really makes the Spurs reload pretty quickly. Parker is only peaking now and still young, Butler would be an excellent wingman and Spurs could draft Jordan Hill and groom him as Duncan's replacement.

    This is terrible.

I doubt Spurs would do #5 for Manu straight up, but if the Wiz throws in some value, it becomes an one sided murder.

It's kind of a could be good or could be bad trade for Washington?

Manu would give them alot of fire power and experience in the playoffs. Ginobili could come off the bench or play in the backcourt with Arenas (or in place of Arenas).

It's a much more risky deal for Washington, giving up a #5 and a borderline all-star who is still in his 20s and coming into his prime for a player.

Washington should be going after big man, a center or power forward or point guard. I don't know why they would specifically want Ginobili.

I doubt the deal will go through.

NO player's name was mentioned, but “Helluva player for a helluva player,” you'd have to guess Caron Butler. Its the only player that makes sense salary wise. Jamison has too many high salary years left for it to be a Spurs kind of move

What would Pop's hypothetical NBA committee that vetoes stupid trades have to say about this one?

    that would be TERRIBLE

my guess would be more along the lines of caron butler and maybe on of their young guys like javale mcgree/nick young/blatche

no way they give up butler and the #5 pick for a super-substar that was injured the past two seasons.

Something bad is gonna happen I guarantee you that much... The Spurs and Patriots are run like a Japanese Hot Cake factory. Without fail they will find a way to compete for a championship. Their only enemies are injury.

Spurs will shake things up before the deadline and it will surely be a huge improvement type deal. If they did manage to get Butler it would not surprise me one bit.

    you guys need to relax.

the wizards have said they are interested in moving the draft pick for immediate help. they have no intentions of breaking up their big 3. they want to add to it, and are using the #5 as bait.

they might have offered a youth package like #5, young, mcgee, or blatche. to make salaries work maybe an ending contract like mike james or brendan haywood.

I've always loved manu's game, but if the spurs are smart, they would move him before he breaks down more. I don't think he has much left at this point.

Sperms wouldn't even think twice about that. They'd pack Manu's bags for him.

I hope Manu get traded, but it will not work out for him, and then he will demand to be traded to Houston to be with Scola.

What if its for Arenas? Could you imagine Agent 0 coming off the bench?
