Without Yao, CNT got destroyed by the Mavs SLT

The Mavs won 92-63. It's not even funny. I would be embarrassed if I were a player on that team. You don't represent your gigantic country by losing to a NBA scrubs team like that. CNT without Yao is plain horrible.

That Devin Harris kid is something. He scored 20 some points and had some nasty dunks. He kinda reminds me of Steve Francis a little bit. He will become a really good player if he keeps developing. I think he is not yet 20 years old, am I right?

Anyway, all I care about is Yao's injury update. I hope he gets better fast, and leads China to some wins in the Olympics. It would be fun to watch it in the summer. Here in the NBA, Yao hasn't proved he can lead a team to greatness yet. I know he led his team to the championships in the Chinese league, but he needs to prove it on an international level, and better yet, the NBA. He is a special player, and CNT is lucky to have him. However, it is perplexing to see how a country can have a international super star like Yao, yet don't have anyone else to be decent.

I read articles on how China will become the next place to produce many stars in the NBA(like Yugoslavia), I am not so sure about it after these games. China has a very good front-line with current and future NBA players, but their backcourt is just dismal. They can shoot the ball well, but they can't dribble, have no speed and court-vision. I am not sure it will change in the near future. They need to get some guard to play in the NBA to be a legitmate team.

BTW, we as Rockets fans need to root for the CNT in the Olympics as our home team because of Yao Ming. Well, I am sure we will, right?

First of all, he's not a 7'5 stiff. Let's give him some credit.

He is a 7'3 stiff. (checkout the pictures yourself)

How he did? He sucked. He won the tipoff, got elbowed in the chin by a Chinese player, and didn't do anything else that caught people's attention, other than the fact that he sucked.

    I strongly disagree!

    See what I mean?!

That's because he's a physical player initiating contact.

That's because he blends in well.

    Ok he probably does suck.

I'm just hoping China's eliminated from medal competition early so Yao gets some rest.

:D You know, Yao will be the worst nightmare for every NBA player who is over 7'3''. They will be inevitably be compared to Yao, and they will all fail miserably trying to measure up.

Ralph Sampson and Rik Smits (maybe Mark Eaton) are the only two players that I can remember that are not laughing stocks in the NBA with that height.

Although I don't agree with you, but the sad part is, you will probably be right.

I think Yao got enough rest in the past two months. He showed up in the CNT training camp out of basketball shape(conditioning wise). I think if he rests another month shooting commericial and doing dumb movies, he'll do the same thing to the Rockets. He's conditioning is already a big concern, so we don't need that.

sorry, P-Poddy, despite your efforts and propaganda machine before the draft, Shawn Bradley will remain the tallest stiff in the NBA. Don't worry, your time will come...learn from the Stormin Morman.

OMG, RR said something positive about Yao(non-basketball related of course)?!?! Someone check if the sky is falling...

I think these blowouts show exactly how value Yao can be to a team. They just win when he's playing then get destroyed when he's out. If that's not having a considerable effect on a team with his presense then I don't know what it.

LOL, if you think Rockets' old guards were bad, look at CNT's guard.

Nothing has changed for the last three years.

I don't think that Shawn Bradley looks like Bizarro. His face looks pretty normal. It's his body that's kind of crazy. But Pavel does look like Bizarro. There's a pretty simple medical reason for that. Pavel was diagnosed with a pituitary gland disorder that caused him to secrete extra human growth hormone. It made him taller, but it presents some serious medical risks. That is why he bowed out of the draft last year. But they apparently got it under control.

One of the side effects of HGH is that it makes your face grow in weird, Bizarro ways. It becomes elongated and it looks more "caveman"-like.

Yao and Bradley, on the other hand, are just really tall, genetic freaks, so they look more normal.
