With the addition of Ming, will our guards be better defensively?

One thing I thought about if we were to get Ming was if our guards defensive game would improve? I have a feeling Ming will be getting into early foul trouble at the beginning of the season next year until he learns to adjust to the speed of the NBA. As he adjusts and matures I think he will definitely be a great defensive prescence and once our guards trust in him I believe their defensive game will elevate.

Think about it, if you have a big fella to control the paint for you, wouldn't you be more agressive on defense? I would be all up in my opposing guards grill cause I know my big fella would have my back. Such is the case with Kobe Bryant and Shaq. I believe Kobe is a good defender(overrated) but most of it comes from him being able to be agressive and take chances because of his big fella to pick up slack.

haven't seen a cato13 thread in awhile...another Oct '99er Like DoD and CBFC...quite the vintage month.

i agree. Everyone's defense goes up, but Francis still has to play the PnR better. Ming can't help with that. I expect Mobley's killer lateral defense to finally get noticed by our Rockets fans here.

I'm with you on Kobe. We've discussed it. Mobley did not let Kobe by him, while Phil was calling for weakside help for Kobe on Mobley. some can say that was Phil saying "You're going to have to pass it to TMo"...but we all know Kobe was embarrassed for having help sent his way.

And then...oooh...that sweet last second inbounds play first Lakers game when Kobe fell down guarding Mobes,...sigh,,,the cat gets trounced for passing it

But, the big quetion is whether Ming helps Cato's defense, and whether Cato13 becomes Ming15 soon. I'm sure we can arrange a post count transfer...

    ;)
