should be moved to SG and put Shandon at SF. This is a move that needs to be made because now Steve has to be our #1 option at all times. He is the prolific scorer on our team and he should be putting up a lot more shots with Cuttino gone. So now the PG becomes Mooch. I really liked his play last year and if all else fails then we still have a very good ballhandler in Drew. Drew would probably be the backup though. So what happens to Walt? I think he becomes the backup SF and we keep him until the trade deadline and trade him if we are out of the race. Kenny is the PF and Cato the C. Then we also have Langhi, Collier, Bullard(I guess), and Dream off the bench. If Steve stays at PG then I don't see this team doing anything because Shandon is not that great player who shoots alot if you need him too, he is the guy who quietly puts up great numbers and flows in the offense. He is much like Pippen in that respect even though Pip is an *******. Walt cannot be counted on as he is too streaky and all of our big men are not the type of player like Brand or Dream back in the day who carries the team. So in my mind Steve has got to get more shots and being the PG and shooting alot don't mix. Besides, we already have 2 pgs behind Steve on the roster and with Steve's one year of playing PG he gained alot of knowledge about how the offense flows and now is the time to let him go out there and dominate on the Offensive end. And puleeze do not make a post saying Mobley has not left yet. I know that, but it seems more and more everyday that he will leave. If he doesn't, then forget what I said. ------------------ [This message has been edited by SooneRockStro (edited July 20, 2000).] [This message has been edited by SooneRockStro (edited July 20, 2000).]
interesting, but I don't agree. If Mobes leaves, it would just be easier to get a decent backup sg by trade (drew) or a FA than moving 2 guys out of position and butchering the rotation. ------------------ I am so exasperated that I could expectorate.
Just an idea, but how about trading drew for hubert davis? He's a free agent so it would be a sign and trade but he could sign for just one year helping even more our cap situation for next year and providing some shooting and defence,it could be a short-term solution. Also,we cant play steve at the 2,thats why he left vancouver and has already adapted to the 1 incredibly, just let Back-court 2001 (Steve-shandon)play together and you'll feel better. ------------------ -RG-
Completely Disagree. That is one of the reasons he didn't want to go to Vancouver. He didn't want to be a shooting guard. We want Steve to have the ball in his hands as much as possible. Moochie is an excellent backup. We don't want him to start. I think Shandon's is better at 2 anyway. [This message has been edited by Rocket Freak (edited July 21, 2000).]
I thought RudyT and the staff did not like SA at the 3? Either way, Franchise needs to control the ball. ------------------ I need a new signature. 302
What are we, trying to become Philadelphia, except without 5 guys who get all defensive consideration? Are we trying to be the most undersized team in the league? Cato-6'11'': Average for a center Thomas-6'7'': Small for a PF (average for an SF) Anderson-6'6'': Small for a SF Francis-6'3'': Small for an SG Moochie-6'1'': Slightly below average for a PG Only decent defenders are Cato, and Anderson, who's now likely guarding someone 2-3 inches taller than him, lessening that advantage. I would say if we offered Cuttino a starting job, moving Shandon to the 3, he'd take it for sure, but Rudy and Co. know that starting Anderson at the 3, will totally screw up our perimeter D, and our interior D isn't good enough to make up for it. ------------------ The more lefties on your team, the better. Collier is Seven Foot and Left Handed. How can you go wrong? Trade or bench Kenny Thomas.
