The main reason that Rudy's departure from the coaching position wasn't bad was because I hated the way he utilized Yao. While Yao has a low post game, I don't think he had any particular talent for working with his back to the basket. If Yao is directly under the basket he could score well because of his height. When he was in the 5' to 8' range (which he was a lot), I thought that he was very average. There are a lot of players in the league who could play with a higher efficiency than Yao in that type of situation. Can anyone with more basketball XO knowledge speculate what role we will see Yao play in the half-court? I want to see him in the high post!
He will be used alot more I think. I think every play will go through Yao. Yao will pass alot more to set up plays, and don't worry about him being like Ewing. Yao is a totaly different pkayer. I wonder if those Ewing rumors were all false? Is he realy going to be a big man coach in Houston? I don't like that idea at all, Ewing is an enemy of Houston!
Yao's role should be to never put the ball on the floor. And to hold it WAY up high when he has it. I don't wanna see guards coming to double him up and strip him all game long.
YAO MING!!!!!!!! It's a Ming thing..... Well he said that our offense should be run through Yao. YAO will be great! I hope he's not like Dikembe Mutombo. And Yao...I think he does better facing the basket. He has adequate ballhandling skills. He has good hands. He is a great shooter. I think he should be in the high post more often. And maybe Mo Taylor should be with him more in the low post. Yao will hopefully be more aggressive...and less humble...and getting easy baskets and offensive rebounds..and throwing it down.
i dont want ewing to have anything to do with the rox or yao...he'll turn yao into a face-up jump shooter that occasionally takes it to the hole...if anyone needs to tutor yao, its kareem abdul jabbar...he'll teach yao how to effectively use his height....
What about Ralph Sampson? I think he could teach Yao a thing or two. Sampson was something else too bad he got hurt.

Yao Ming is the main reason that JVG is coming to Houston. He sees the great potential of a Team built arround Yao Ming! I feel sure Les was able to see that the Guards controled Rudy T and what type of basketball was to being played- Selfish. Les wants JVG, because he is strict on diciplin and I hope he will demand a lot from Yao Ming and the other players. I expect that the Roster will have a change in their mind set, which will be quite different from last season. Its time to welcome Team Basketball back to Houston.
Ewing is waaaaaay more similar to Yao than any former Rockets big man, save Ralph Sampson. I don't know why he is hated by you guys....you are all a little too facetious. I know NY doesn't hate Hakeem Olajuwon, so why do you guys hold a grudge against Ewing?
I'm all for kareem abdul jabbar to tutor Yao. He is a nice guy and has a similar build to Yao. Plus his aray of moves would work especially well for Yao.
