Now that the rockets have the 37th pick, who do you think they will pick up? I personally want to pick up the 6'6 high school shooting guard Lenny Cooke. He's been compared to Jerry Stackhouse and that is the position we have the least amout of depth of.

I think the rockets should take a chance on George Williams from U of H. He is a hometown kid with a lot of heart and would give the team more depth and athleticism at the SF. Plus he would team up for some SICK fast breaks with Steve and Cuttino.

I really think the Rockets need a defensive stopper at the 2 and 3. A swingman type player who plays good D and has a good J would be the perfect fit. The best player in the draft for that area would probably be Kareem Rush (who should be available at #15). Do you know what guys at the 37 spot can have the same abilities?

Actually it's the 37th, and you've somehow managed to comprise an excellent list except for that kid from Kentuckee. Savovic would give us our 3rd international player from the draft. I say go deep, as in old, eastern Europe. Ming, Nashbar, and Savovic. Wow!

For fun - they could like have Eastern Bloc Day where everybody adds a few consonants to their names, pretend they are 18, track stars, and from Lithuania.

Just a hunch but maybe the Rockets take Lonny Baxter. He went to college at Maryland. He played well at the pre-draft camp in Chicago.

On the other hand, he plays power forward. I think the Rockets may take a two guard in the second round. Are there any good two's left?

Don't forget Freddie Jones of Oregon. He could become a nice little back-up shooting guard.

I think Freddie Jones and Lee Benson both would be great fits, and either could one day end up challenging mobley.

Lee Benson is not a SG. He's more of a power forward.

Lee Benson is 6'11" and will be a backup center or PF.

2nd picks not likely to make the team. We already have 10 guaranteed contracts not including our 2 first round picks. We also have a MCE that we can use for a vet.

Is Lee Benson expected to be drafted? I don't see him on any mock drafts.

I wouldn't mind having a player like Juan Dixon. The guy's got so much heart.

Lee Benson could pop into the 2nd round but not likely. I would sign him as a free agent as he may be the enforcer we need.

2nd round picks are not likely to make the team?

Statistically true, but tell that to Cuttino Mobley. My general sense is that teams have more success finding fg/sg/sf diamonds in the rough in the 2nd round than big men.

I'm going to have to do some research to see if that's true.

I love Steve Logan. We don't really need a point guard, but he is a nice talent. I really like the idea of giving Lee Benson a shot, especially cause we've got nothing to loose. I will always take a risk on a 2nd rounder if I think the possible reward is high. Yarbrough is worth a look, and so is Jones. Casy Jacobson is a guy who will come off the bench in the NBA and shoot lights out. If Jamal Sampson falls into the second round, we should look at him.

Most teams carry 14 contracts during a season. 12 on the roster and 2 with sprained fingers and pulled hamstrings.

I say Nenad Krstic. He cant come untill we get the new arena, so it wouldnt take up a roster spot. He can continue to develop overseas too. That way, we can trade Cato next year and still have a backup.
