Wishing for something that is already done is really not to wise, but to think we had 16mil and wound up with bench players is still hard to digest. Looking and seeing the kind of players that will be free after this season makes it even more amazing. Quick stat:16pts, 7.6 rebs, 38%3pt fg's and 46%fg. Without the hesitation, most will know who that is. Without the thinking ahead, we could have had a chance for him after this season. Of course it Rashard Lewis. The same guy that dropped 30 and 10 on T'Wolves tonight. I'm past the point about draft night, I'm looking at the way we could have made up for our blunder and greatly improved this team without having a guy that would want to take all the shots. I'll get pissed off responses, but so what.
I f-e-e-e-e-e-l your pain. Couldn't we give him Walt's $6 Million which is up after this season, right?
So you would let Hakeem, Mo Taylor, Shandon, Moochie, and Bullard go for nothing for the minor possibility of getting a pretty solid small forward? Good luck trying to explain that one to the fans. I'd much rather have Mo Taylor, Glen Rice, and Mooch than Rashard.
I think if we had have gotten Rashard we wouldn't have gotten Eddie so no matter which way you put it... we still lose out some way. This is our team and that's the way it will stay (for now). Be happy that we aren't the Bulls.
When you wish upon a star, makes no difference who you are Anything your heart desires will come to you If your heart is in your dreams, no request is too extreme When you wish upon a star as dreamers do (Fate is kind, she brings to those who love The sweet fulfillment of their secret longing) Like a bolt out of the blue, fate steps in and sees you thru When you wish upon a star, your dreams come true Lyrics by Ned Washington
xxx We're not???????? HMMMMM???????? We're 11-23 and there 6-27. O.K. I get it. We're 5 games better than the Bulls!!!!!!!! Point Taken.
jshabang, Must we really explain to you how it is that we are more talented than the Bulls? Regardless of record?
A pretty good small forward would the difference for us. We didn't get anything for Dream, Rice was already broken down, Norris is a backup, and Taylor is Taylor a future bench player. We could have had our cake and eaten it too. Thomas is holding the spot down temporarily anyway so whats the point. Explain it to the fans is what the organiztion is good at. Do you think the fans in Orlando are cringing and crying because the team traded hustle man outlaw for a chance to get Duncan? Its all about putting a talented team on the floor. Tell me why we couldn't get Griffin if we had the money in the offseason to make a run at a free agent? Forward thinking is what its called. I guess we got a very good player for Anderson and Hakeem. All we got were salaries.
lee- and who's to say Rashard won't be homesick and take a full MCE deal, which will be close to 40 mill over 6 years? Has Les ever been afraid to spend money? Especially to clearly improve the team? On a ~22 year old from the area that will draw in fans, and fit into the age and skills of the lineup? Walt comes off the books, and keeps us far enough under luxury tax. No one said it had to be Rice/Taylor vs. Rashard Lewis. It's very possible to have both.
My stomach just jumped at the possible lineup: C - Eddie Griffin PF - Maurice Taylor SF - Rashard Lewis SG - Cuttino Mobley PG - Steve Francis I am salivating. But I honestly wouldn't blame Shard if he was still mad at the Rockets. Check out the excerpt from the most recent SLAM ish: "It was a beautiful, fearless leap-until he nearly landed on his head. His hometown Rockets had three first-round picks, and word was that Lewis would get to stay home. Draft day came, and the NBA, with it's insider wisdom, invited Rashard to attend the show in Vancouver. He put on his best fly suit, got a haircut, and practiced that look of surprise when David Stern called, "With the 14th pick in the NBA draft, the Houston Rockets select, Rah-shahd Lewis." He rehearsed a smooth, confident stroll across the stage, getting the new hat and remembering to give the bill some curve while adjusting the size. And he imagined the fake soul-brother hug with Stern, in the face of more flashbulbs than he'd ever seen."
If you haven't noticed... Steve was out 5 weeks, Mo was out for the season, Glen is not at full strength and we've had a whole bunch of other injuries. Without that we are a much better team then 11-23. Cab you say the same for the Bulls? Nuff said....
Oh yeah, having our starting PF injured before the start of the season and then having his replacement injured for a while didn't have anything to do with it. Losing our franchise player and starting PG didn't hurt either. I mean our starting SF going down couldn't possibly have hurt us. It's no problem to win when the remaining star player is hampered with banged up ankles. But we did have T-Mo and Griffin and Oscar. . .what they're rookies you say and clueless in the early part of the season? Well we still had Cato!
