Just wondering if anyone gone through it yet. I'm having a painful feeling to the right side of my mouth because of the lower molar that is fully grown and now it's infecting my gum and damn swollen up for the last 3 days. I also have another one that look like a fang on the inside of my other mouth but it doesn't hurt and one more smaller molar to the left that is steadily growing but won't reach it peak probably until a year.

I've been talking tylenol and Advil to be able to sleep for the last couple of days. If the pain continued I'm going to have to have it pull out. Man it's damn painful! Can;t hardly open my mouth and eat properly.

The last thing I heard was that one of the guy I went to school with told me that it cost him $800 dolllars to get his teeth pull out. That scared the hell out of me since now I realize that probably like 6 years ago. I think now it's around $100 to 300 per teeth. I'm a grown man but I'm damn scare to get my wisdom teeth pull out becasue I've heard how painful it is. I'm feeling it right now so I have no doubt it's even more painful when I get it pull out.

Well usually, they give you something when they pull them.

Based on my own experience, it wasn't the actually pulling that hurt, since I was out. It was afterwards. That area was sewn up and was very sore. Basically ate very soft stuff for a about a week.

If you don't want to pay a dentist, I recommend some fishing line, a door knob and a 6 pack.

LOL. Ya I remembered doing that when I was a kid. It jsut that how stupid or brave we are when we were kids. But the molar is all the way back so there's no way Im going to reach it. No I think I would rather go to the dentist just in case I don't bleed to death if my bleeding doesn't stop. I've heard people bleed like crazy non stop becasue of their gum desease.

Had all four impacted teeth cut out when I was 18. Personally, I was back to nearly solid food the next day.

Yea, I had mine removed at an early age to avoid the scenario your going through now. I thought it went pretty well but it sucks for a week to two weeks afterwards. Later on...I found out that the oral surgeon didn't remove all of one of the molars properly. This small, leftover piece ended up causing me problems(area was getting infected) about 15 years later and I had to go in for another surgery to have it removed. That sucked! I wish they would have done it right the first time.

I had 3 out last Wednesday

One was impacted and it's the one that still hurts. Codell is right, it's the sewn up area that hurts now. We have the County Dental Plan and my total for all 3 was $128.00. I went the total sedation route. Went in at 7:45 and was on my way home by 10 and slept the rest of the day. They give you a so so painkiller, penecillin, and Vicadin if you need it as a prescription. The Vicadin was good for the day after but kept me way too hazy to do anything (I had to use vacation time to do it). I'm still taking the penicillin and so so stuff. They suggest you get it done on a Thursday so you can take Friday off and have the weekend to recover. My teeth were pretty set and I should have done it a few years ago, but I waited until I had insurance to cover it.

I had all 4 impacted and got em taken out last winter, its not to bad, just a lot of swelling afterwards. Vicadin is your friend, that stuff knocked me out for hours.

Lucky you. I've been having this damn thing in my late year. I had chicken pox in my twentys and its was the worst experience I've had. Hopefully I don;t have to go through pain for a whole week like what I've been reading.

Just wondering what is better. Putting you out to sleep or numbing your mouth while fully awake when they pull it out.

It's different for different people. My girlfriend got her's removed and was back eating solid food the next day, it took me 3-5 days to get back to normal, and it took my cousin a month but that is unusually long. I can tell you this, I'd rather have a wisdom tooth extracted or any tooth extracted than a UPPP done again. This sucks! :(

I had all four impacted wisdoms cut out when I was in my early thirties (DAMN! I just realized I'm in my late thirties).

Anyway, I swore I was going to eat Taco Bell that night after I had them done.

They knocked me out, and I don't really remember much else. My girlfriend at the time brought me back to her apartment and put me in her bed. When I woke up there was a blood stain bigger than a basketball on her pillow where I had laid my head. I was a bit groggy, but not in too much pain.

I had my Taco Bell...the only thing that bothered me was getting some hard taco shell in one of those new holes. The pain didn't really set in until the next day, but honestly, it wasn't bad at all. I thought the whole thing was kind of overblown to tell you the truth. I wouldn't stress out about it too much.

I hear you man. Surgery is a whole different thing that I wouldn't want to go through. Hope you're all better.

I've only had one wisdom tooth pulled, but it was very simple and relatively painless. I was back on solid food the next day, and I felt like I could have driven home, although I let my wife drive just to be safe.

I had 5 wisdom teeth taken out. One was on top of another on the upper right side. Reminded me of "Dark Half"...

Damn, it''s posts like these that worry me; I had 4 teeth removed a little over 5 years ago by Dr. Katz in Houston.

Of course, they WEREN'T the wisdom teeth; they were removed to lessen the overbite and help with braces.

Now both of my brotehrs have had them removed in the past two years; the dentist keeps on telling me to go see the orthodontist, but I sure won't. It probably doesn't help me that I don't wear my retainer at night anymore (but who does anyway?!?!).

There's no problem or pain or noticiable problems, but I think about the future. I don't want to be missing 8 teef. :(

I know it's not what you meant, but... your other mouth ??

Mr. Mooch, I had a few teeth removed as a kid to make room so I wouldn't need braces, and I think it helped with the wisdom teeth in the long run. All 4 of mine came in and they're fine. I had one dentist tell me I had to have them removed when they were coming in. But my family dentist said if there's no pain and they're not impacted, leave 'em. I've had no problems at all with mine.
