So I have a NIB xbox360 wireless adapter and just bought a linksys wrt150n router (a linksys N router). I have heard some rumblings about the two not being fully compatible. the adapter is b/g compatible and the router says it is reverse compatible with g and b standards. does anyone know anything about this before I open up the adapter (cost 100$) or should I just get a really long ethernet cable and run it through the walls and ceiling (which would prolly end up costing the same...)

If you're not opposed to running the cable, you should do that. Here's an excellent site for all the stuff you would need....

    Monoprice.com

    Here's a 100 footer for 11.97...

With it being NIB, couldn't you just take it back to the store? If you don't have a receipt, Wal-Mart will take it back whether it came from there or not. You may only get store credit, but that's about as good as cash considering you can get anything from groceries to gas there.

Another option for you if you don't want to go through the hassle of running cable is setting up a wireless access point or bridge. It can get a wireless signal and then send it through a hard line to your XBOX. You would have to configure it on your computer and then move it to your XBOX. This could be done for maybe 40-50 bucks on eBay and your quality won't be quite as good, but it's a lot less hassle.

dam dude- thanks a lot... yeah i dont have a receipt, and I was considering getting store credit from somewhere, so I guess that works. I dont think ill mess with a bridge or anything, Id rather just go through with the installation of a hard wire cause a hard line always works the best, no matter what technology changes. uve been a big help.

seeing as u seem to know a few things about wireless maybe you or someone else can help me out with this (i was planning on doing a seperate thread about it so that more people would click on it instead of being scared away from the (xbox 360 in the title). like i said before, i got the n router. we used to have a g. before, my laptop worked with it fine, but ever since the change it isnt. I have a g wireless card and the ssid is even showing up on my laptop, but when i click to connect, it never prompts for a password, it just keeps trying to connect until it quits on its own. the name of the network i set up has the same name as my old network on my g router, so iono if that has something to do with it.i know the router works cause the desktop which is connected with ethernet works fine, and another, newer laptop (apple, about a yr old with a g wireless card) can connect to the network wireless w/o a problem. my laptop is a few years old now. any suggestions?

yo, i have the exact same router and no problems here.
Plus if you do you can just change the router settings.
    Make it a B,G signal
    or mixed
